I came here to try out their highly recommended World Famous Nachos. Several people had told me they were to die for! Well, I wasn’t disappointed. Their nachos are comprised of ½ size fried corn tortilla tostadas, covered with authentic Mexican refied beans, shredded brisket, and Mexican cheese. The cheese has a chewy texture, and they also offer chicken, steak, a la Mexicana, and avocado options. I went with the regular shredded brisket and a la Mexicana (jalapeño, onion, and tomato). The ambience is dimly lit, with a long bar, booths, and a pool table. It’s a really nice, quiet place to hang out and snack on the tasty nachos. You won’t regret coming here.

Honestly, this place is the best spot I’ve hit in ages, a total hidden gem status. The atmosphere is just unreal – the owner is this super sweet lady whose dad actually built the bar in this historic slice of El Paso. Walking through those doors felt like a time warp. It straight up teleported me back to my youth in Vegas, just that classic, no nonsense bar vibe that’s getting harder to find.

I grabbed the Juarez dog, which was killer, but that chili relleno burrito? Man, that thing was dialed in perfectly. Washed it all down with a couple of ice cold pacificos. 10/10 experience, I’m definitely coming back next time I’m in town.

It only took me 68 years to finally step in to the Tap for lunch. You would think living in eptx all my life I would’ve been a frequent patron once I turned 18 and legal. My wife and I ordered their famous brisket nachos and all those who have said their the best nachos weren’t kidding. The best nachos by far. You gotta make the trip downtown and visit the Tap!!!!!

I am really sad about this experience since every time we go to this place, everything is phenomenal. But it was not the case today. It was really upsetting when you have only a short amount of time to eat at work, you order food and go pick it up and it is not ready. I ordered my food at 12 and set the time for pick up at 12:50-1pm since i get out at 1pm for lunch. Again I only have 30 min. I get there at 1:07 and they direct me to the back where you pick up all the to go orders. 10 minutes go by without anyone addressing us, then come to us and say someone will be out in a bit. We wait some more and a man, i am guessing the cook, comes out and explains the food is almost out. By this time it is already 1:20 and we say fine. We wait up to 1:28 when I finally speak up and ask for a refund. The waitress there, not sure if she is a manager, got upset and said the food was almost out, but by this time, we were out of time for lunch and had to go back to work. I insisted I had to go, that if i can please have a refund, to what she responded in a very rude annoyed manner, that she was not able to do that, that she had to call the owner and have her refund me. I explained I needed to go since our lunch time was over, and honestly she seemed more upset about me asking for a refund than me having to go back to work without having the burger I had ordered an hour ago. She was really rude and practically yelled that she could not do anything, that refunds are addressed by the owner. We honestly just walked out. I am very sad about this since the food here is amazing and has never been a disappointment. However, costumer service needs to be addressed, it makes you not wanna go back which sucks because we all know the Tap has the best nachos and the BEST caldo de res in all of El Paso.

When I walked in about 4pm I wanted to walk back out. It was really dark for a place that serves food, not exclusively bar fare. It felt like a bar who eventually decided to serve food. The very back area had better lighting so chose to sit over there. Wall decor was interesting. The bar/restaurant was about 1/2 full. People seemed happy eating, drinking, and talking so decided to continue on. A tad bit cramped with too many chairs for the tables in the back. The chairs were comfortable though. It has a bar, a pool table and big screen tv’s and music playing. The waitress was polite enough but was not attentive to our drinks. We had to ask for refills. She walked by several times and looked at us but never asked if we wanted refills (maybe due to dark lighting and dark cups she couldn’t see they were low and eventually empty). I had the shrimp tacos which were good.

I usually love coming here to eat. Have never had a problem, until today. Please let me know why I have to sit in the back area if I ordered food over the phone. Why am I not allowed to sit in the front. Either way you still have to bring my food to me. There were families eating in the front and people eating at the bar. Whats the difference how I ordered my food.

My first time downtown El Paso and I really enjoyed The Tap! The music, atmosphere, service, the older crowd, the drinks, and food. I love the mirrors and disco ball too. I would have loved to see what it was like back in the day. Definitely will be back! Pictures are a little blurry but everything was delicious.

Decided to stop in for a quick bit while out walking. Kind of an odd musty smell inside, but I stayed to eat. Had the chicken nachos. Large portion, but the chicken had zero flavor or seasoning. Just boiled shredded chicken. Salsa was ok. Service was prompt and friendly.

A solid shotgun style dive bar in downtown with vintage vibes. Lots of bartenders made getting a drink easy. Flautas we’re good, definitely restaurant quality. There was a funky smell that was a little off putting. Bonus points for the Mother Mary shrine. I would return and recommend.
