My family and I had a fantastic dining experience at “Le Mouton Noir” in Baie-Saint-Paul, Quebec. The food was beyond amazing – I had a steak that was cooked to perfection, paired with a refreshing glass of cold beer. My wife enjoyed a delicious vegan salad, and our kids devoured their plates with delight. The service exceeded our expectations, making the lunch even more memorable. We couldn’t have asked for a better meal. “Le Mouton Noir” is a 5-star gem that we highly recommend to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience in Baie-Saint-Paul. It’s a must-visit! ️

Friendly staff. We visited it for lunch. Their terrace with a view of the river is really nice. For the entree, we had a refreshing and delicious gazpacho. I would recommend this place if you have time to relax because it could take some time before being served. If you are on a hurry, maybe it is better to try a different place.

Really nice restaurant further down the main street. Recommend making a reservation if wanting to go on a weekend. Nice meal options, the organic chicken was a highlight as was the Arctic char appetizer. Nice ambiance inside. Good selection of non alcoholic beers too!

We dined there the other day. All in all food tasted good however it’s not somewhere I look forward to go back to.
I found the food here being overpriced for what it is. The restaurant tries to be a fine dining restaurant but the overcrowded atmosphere is more like a local pub at best.
I had their fish of the day. It tasted good but lacked seasoning. The fish was cooked properly however any chef should know not to leave the skin on a fish if it’s not crispy. The result was a soggy fish skin with gross texture.
The other dish, the lamb lacked seasoning as well.
The carrot cake although moist and tasty, was not anything extraordinary as advertised.
Servers should not leave the dirty utensils on the table for the next round when removing the plates ( we are talking about a high end restaurant)
All in all we had a decent experience.

Beautiful setting. We sat on the patio overseeing the water, it was peaceful and magical. The service was outstanding. Regardless of the fact the restaurant was full, the staff took the time to properly explain the menu and offered local advise. The food was creative and delicious. Ingredients were seasonal and fresh. It was a perfect summer evening.

This was easily one of the best meals of my life: the atmosphere of the restaurant was very cozy, warm, and friendly. It was busy, but we had no problem hearing each other. Our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable, and perfectly present. After we ordered our food, he brought a free appetizer to the table that was delicious, and foreshadowed the excellent meal to come. We had a great bottle of orange wine with our meals – an incredible duck breast and the cocotte d’épaule de porc bio de Charlevoix, photos below. The desert was also spectacular. Could not have had a better time at Le Mouton Noir. It was more than a vibe; it was more than a meal: it was a journey.

The meal here was excellent and the wine selection was also very good. There was a Sauvignon Blanc, loire valley that was very crisp, tasty with hints of apple. Went perfectly with our meal. We ordered a Coquette de Porc, a Veal Tartare, seafood tagliatelle, and the veal sirloin with octopus. We also had the crème brûlée which was amazing. Would definitely come back!

This is a surprising culinary gem in a town of mediocre pub food. Every dish was subtle and sophisticated and made using high quality ingredients. We started with the mushroom “crème brulée” mousse and the veal tartare. Both dishes were devine. The Lion mushroom mousse was easily one of the finest appetizers I’ve ever had, including several Michelin star restaurants. The tartare was also delightful. For our mains we had magret de canard and sweetbreads. These were conventional but very well executed without any overpowering elements in a medaly of balanced flavors. For dessert we had a signature carrot cake which was not overly sweet and quite enjoyable.
Service was attentive and personable. Overall one of the finest dining experiences we’ve had in Canada. You won’t find better within 50 km. Reservations are necessary.

This place is truly an amazing dining experience! If there was more than 5 stars available, I would still give the highest recommendation! Having just come back from Napa, California where we stayed in Yountville (yes – the home of THAT restaurant), I can say without reservation that this was better in every way! This is great authentic New French/Quebecois and “non-poser” dining of the highest order! There was not a single bite here that was not perfectly on point! I had the duck confit cassoulet, and WOW, just WOW! Wine recommendations were spot on as well. Bottom line, this is the type of restaurant that it is worth driving into town for (it’s an hour and a bit from Quebec City)! Only thing that came close in Quebec City was eating at Le Continental.
