My favorite beers are the Sunfish wheat & Deep stowage IPA. The maple cream crème brûlée was to die for!!! The spoon crack was so satisfying, paired with the fresh blueberries & mint?! Outstanding. Bartender Jamie is lovely! Quick and personable. As a first time bar solo patron, it was very welcoming and relaxed. Thank you sea dog! Will be back!

If you are in Exeter and into good beer, you should definitely give this place a chance! They have variety of awesome beers you can try. I am vegetarian and ordered the Mediterranean sandwich but it was cold and that is the reason I am giving a 4-star instead of 5.

Went here for a beer / lunch. The Cajun tenders were extremely juicy. Debated ordering another plate! The mac burger was flavorful with the mac and cheese and bacon. The turkey burger was refreshing and was seasoned well. The Brussels sprouts were cooked just right with a nice crisp. The tater tots were done right with a balance of crunch and soft center. Enjoyed sitting outside on the deck!

The Brussels sprouts with pork belly was good. Although too sweet for my taste. The garlic mussels were ok. Broth was better. The mussel meats were tiny. The clam chowder was good but felt it was missing something. The meal was quite expensive for five people including drinks.

Sea Dog Brewing in Exeter, NH for a couple pints & a good burger. It had been a hot minute since I was here in late 2022, but I saw there was a couple new beers on draft I hadn’t had so I thought it’d be a good time to return. This Exeter spot is one of eight different locations with most of them in Maine, another in New Hampshire & one in Florida. I didn’t realize they had such a reach with all those taprooms until I was doing a little research on the website. One of my favorites from them I’ll always grab when I see it in the wild is the BLUE PAW WILD BLUEBERRY Fruited Wheat which is always refreshing especially during summertime. ☘
My first pint was the SEA DOG SUMMER ALE Pale Wheat which was delicious & a above average wheat beer. My second pint was the SEA DOG ISLAND LIGHT LAGER that was good, but nothing out of this world. I was hoping for more than just two new beers to try, but they don’t release a lot of new beers & mostly stick to their staples it seems. The SEA DOG SUMMER ALE was the winner here, I grabbed a couple pints of it during this trip.
The Bacon Bleu Stacker burger I scooped was delicious & a perfect companion to go with the light beers I grabbed. All the usual seating options here including a pretty decent size bar, tables, booths & hightops. My friends & I got there for opening on a Sunday & the place filled up within a half hour. Our service was good, but I forgot to get the servers name unfortunately. Plenty of to go cans here to take home for personal consumption or a tasting with friends. All & all a good visit, but with the lack of new beers coming out it’ll probably be another few years before I make the visit again. ☘✌♥️
BEERGASM RATING – 69/101 ☘✌♥️

Wait staff is always quick and friendly. Live music nights are always a great time. Summer dinners out on the patio are fantastic. Tonight we were joined by a great blue heron, a red tailed hawk, and a magnificent bald eagle! Can’t go wrong with the setting and the food is good too. So much bird watching tonight I almost forgot to capture the Cobb salad I got!

Tonight was my first time going into the restaurant. I was actually excited as I was meeting a few other moms out for appetizers and drinks around 7 o’clock. Upon arriving, I thought our server would come over, but after about 10 minutes myself and another mom who had arrived about five minutes before me decided to go up to the bar to order a drink as we were not sure where our server was. The bartender told us that she could get our drinks, but that we did have a server and she’d send her over. No problem , we understand it can get busy . Myself , and the other mom have been in the industry for more than 20 years so we completely get it . After getting our drinks and ordering dinner, we eat and we order another drink around 8 o’clock. Around 830 the bar staff is cleaning up putting the chairs up onto the bar and bringing out the trash. We understand the restaurant closes at eight, but I also understand that cleaning up and taking care of things usually takes about an hour. Our table as well as another table were still in there and like I said it was only about 830 -8:40 pm . Around this time, we got the check and the bar staff said to us after about 10 minutes- We’ve been closed for 40 minutes time to go.! telling us it’s time to leave which I have never in my life have been allowed to say to a customer as a bartender! Again, 40 minutes after closing a restaurant! I literally was appalled and completely changed my tip. As a bartender, I understand that it usually takes about an hour to clean up and cash out with a manager. It was literally 8:40 in the evening and we had only been there for about an hour and 40 minutes. ( including getting the check) The bartender also said this to the other table. I literally will never go back to this restaurant! Ever! I would also like to note – I got the crab Rangoon dip. It itasted like a Rangoon, but the chips were covered in grease and I literally couldn’t eat it because I felt like I would get a horrible stomachache after.. other moms noted very greasy and not great either. Needless to say, I was highly disappointed, but more disappointed by the customer service. We went down the street to Otto to enjoy another glass of wine without pressure of leaving. The bartender, Johnna, said when he gave us the check please take your time , if there’s anything else I can get for you let me know and it was a wonderful experience ( this was at 9:30) Furthermore, Sea dog is a brewery, You should expect to be at the restaurant for at least an hour after serving customers or after your kitchen has closed. The way the staff said we’ve been closed for 40 minutes as they slammed their trash bag down full of bottles was just crazy to me!

I’ve been to the Sea Dog in Conway, NH, and I remember it being pretty good. I was excited to try this location. We got the crab rangoon dip for an app, and that was pretty good. My boyfriend enjoyed his meal, but I did not. I got a salad with ahi tuna. The tuna was definitely the best part of the salad. It would have been an all-around amazing salad if they didn’t dump a whole snack bag of sunflower seeds on it. It was literally all I could taste. There is a ton that were under the tuna. I tried to spoon some out and put it on a side plate, but they were all over it. I didn’t even eat half of it. It was so disappointing, especially for the price of it. Would be willing to try again, but I would never get a salad again.

I visited Sea Dog for the first time with friends for my husband’s birthday celebration. The location, right on the river in downtown Exeter was perfect. Given the fine weather, we sat on their multi-tiered deck to enjoy spectacular views of herons and seagulls dining on rainbow trout.
Our server was phenomenal and checked in on us throughout the meal. While Sea Dog is well known for their beer, the cocktails are beautiful, tasty, and most importantly, strong! None of us had any complaints in the drink department.
The menu is extensive and offers a variety of salads, sandwiches, and other pub fare. We feasted on burgers, tenders, steak poutine, and the buffalo chicken sandwich. Unfortunately, the buffalo chicken was a miss. My favorite item on their menu was the mac and cheese side. Creamy, salty, and perfectly cheesy. Overall, I would recommend Sea Dog for their cocktails and to enjoy the New England weather on the deck.

One of the nicest places to eat in Exeter. We got a great table on the patio in the back overlooking the Squamscott river. I started with an excellent margarita, and then had the blackened haddock tacos — tender flaky fish, fresh avocado, really tasty! It came with a side of cole slaw, which was also good — not too creamy. Overall atmosphere of the place is charming, with indoor dining just as nice as outdoor. Waitstaff was great. Will definitely come here again!
EDIT: On a more recent visit, I got the jambalaya, which was great. Nice amount of spice, with really tender shrimp and lots of sausage and chicken. Huge portion — I could only eat about 2/3 of it, and then brought the rest back to the hotel where I ate it for breakfast the next morning1
