We have family in LB and have been somewhat frequent diners in the restaurant and more so taking out. While our experiences have been mostly unnoteworthy, on Tuesday evening we stopped in and ordered approximately $150.00 in take-out for four people. A quart of split-pea soup was hot, thick, and very tasty with the croutons conveniently on the side.very good. A Meshugana hero, very nice. The latkes were slightly overdone but nicely crispy, and flavorful.
We specifically asked for Russian and mustard on the side. Neither was provided. Plastic flatware for an army, however, was dumped in with our order. We did receive a few sour and half-sour pickles, which were very crisp, tasty, and fresh.
Now on to the reason for our chagrin:
Two corned beef sandwiches on rye. I took one bite and could honestly not believe how bad it was. It was if I was chomping into a sandpaper sandwich. I dipped into some mustard expecting some offset or to compliment the experience, but alas the whole thing went into the garbage. What a waste. The ancillary square potato knish was freezing cold, soggy, and tasteless. The fries while generous in portion were soft and soggy.
You guys need to do better, as you have in the past.
however the corned beef and.pastrami second to none.
the coleslaw best ever
the Russian dressing best ever
.
pickles best
knish worth it with that alone .wow!
the matzo balls were average but maybe I didnt heat long enough?
the selection of rugulah maybe 5 choices were great and sweet but not too sweet. all food was delivered fresh with 0 complaints..im very impressed-
Well we go here EVERY TIME we are in the area
My wife gets her turkey on rye with her sides, I get my pastrami on rye with side of sauerkraut and other sides.
BUT while waiting we have the best kosher hot dog in ALL OF NY. Loaded! Yummmy
Then we take our sandwiches, knishes, salads back to where we are staying and feast. Yes it takes dinner and lunch the next day to finish but it’s so well worth every bite.
The sandwiches are truly made the old fashioned way like a certain place in NYC would but out here and actually tastier having had both side by side.
Salami goes to NYC for the win, but everything else Lido has a lock on.
Cannot wait to see you again for the summer.
This year prepare some Kreplach for me too. lol
Thank you Lido!
The owner, Wally, went above and beyond to make the day special. His professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine care for ensuring everything was perfect truly stood out. The food was beyond exceptional—delicious, plentiful, and presented beautifully. Everyone raved about the quality and variety of dishes. My favs are the latkes and the sandwiches…. So good.
The staff deserves a special mention as well—they were attentive, friendly, and ensured that every guest felt welcomed and cared for. They took care of even the smallest details with such precision and care, making the event completely stress-free for me and my family.
If you’re looking for a place to host a special occasion, look no further than Lido Deli. This is a gem in Long Beach, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the memories we created here. Thank you, Wally, and the entire team for an unforgettable experience!
