On this visit, I ordered the salmon, and overall it was a great dish. The salmon was well cooked and topped with a green sauce that was slightly sour, fresh, and full of flavor. It complemented the fish very well. The vegetables, including broccoli, carrots, zucchini, and cauliflower, were fresh and tasted great, giving the plate a light and healthy feel.
The only thing that did not work for me was the white mayo-based sauce placed on the plate as a thin line. After tasting the salmon and vegetables and then tasting that sauce, it felt heavy and out of place. It did not match the healthy, clean flavors of the dish and changed the overall taste in a way that was not pleasant for me. In my opinion, the dish would be much better without it or with that sauce served on the side.
Aside from that detail, the quality of the food, the drinks, and the atmosphere keep us coming back. Azteca de Oro remains a place we truly enjoy and continue to visit.
The food is a bit on the pricier side, but it’s worth every penny. Every dish reminded me of Mexico—rich flavors, authentic seasoning, and that unmistakable taste of real Mexican cooking done right. It’s the kind of place that brings back memories of true, traditional Mexican food.
If you’re looking for authentic flavor with an elevated dining experience, this spot delivers. Highly recommend for anyone who appreciates excellent Mexican cuisine.
While I believe most dishes are true Mexican, some seem borrowed from Tex-Mex cuisine and, I would even say, from Cuban cuisine. I decided to order something simple, so I went with the burrito.
Dish size is good, the ingredients inside the burrito were flavorful, and I would like to try them in another presentation to fully appreciate their distinctive taste. However, the sauce poured on top could use some improvement. It was a tomato-based sauce that resembled a distant cousin of ketchup more than an authentic Mexican salsa. It lacked complexity and the bold, fresh flavor that a true Mexican salsa should bring to complement the main dish. The same could be said about the salsa served with the chips—it didn’t have that fresh, vibrant quality.
As for the service, the experience was disappointing. I was escorted to a table and waited for some time before realizing that the bartender, not the waitress, was responsible for my table. Unfortunately, she seemed more interested in chatting with a patron at the bar, despite being able to see me since my arrival.
At some point during the wait (before the bartender finally approached), another staff member brought chips and salsa. During dinner, drink refills also took longer than expected.
When I requested the check, that too took quite a while to arrive.
Your experience may vary, just publishing my 2 cents…
Birria was messy even without sauce and not that flavourful.
Steak in Burrito was tough.
Mixed fajitas were pretty good.
