Came here with friends for a late-night Lunar New Year bite.
Place is open till 2 AM—perfect for night owls or students nearby.

We ordered the lamb chop, beef fillet, and the “duet” chop (two kinds of meat in one).
The lamb was tender and lightly charred, beef fillet juicy and flavorful, and the duet chop was super satisfying.
Each came with rice or pasta, which soaked up all the sauce perfectly.

Also tried the curry pot with beef and brisket—soft, but curry was mild—and the satay beef and clear soup beef noodles, both tasty.

Price? Crazy cheap, about $20 each.
Full table of food, zero regrets. Highly recommend if you’re in Monterey Park and craving late-night HK-style eats.

The black pepper beef was just like what I remembered—totally gave me that classic Hong Kong cafe vibe. It really transported me right back to the memories of Hong Kong cafes.
And the lychee sparkling drink!! I’m obsessed!! So refreshing and not too sweet, perfect for summer.

The prices are very reasonable—delicious food that doesn’t break the bank. If you haven’t had Hong Kong-style food in a while, this place will hit the spot.

Highly recommend giving it a try!

Authentic Hong Kong–style cafe with great value and generous portions. The beef chow fun had real wok hei, the steak with eggs was tender, and the iced milk tea tasted just like Hong Kong. Fast service, friendly staff, and consistent quality. A true local favorite in Monterey Park — will definitely come back!

Honestly, the prices here feel really reasonable compared to most places now. Everything on the table was pretty affordable, and you still get a good amount of food. The mixed plate was filling, came out hot, and tasted solid. It’s not a fancy spot, but it’s the kind of place you come to when you want something hearty without spending a lot. I’d definitely come back.

An oldies but goodie! Food is great and portion size is generous. We had plenty of leftovers to take home.

The place could use some refresh.

Been going to this restaurant at least once per week for years!!! The prices are back to being decent 🙂
(I think they sold the business recently. New staff and a dinner special menu. I think the food servings are slightly less than before. Parking arrangements may have changed, the parking lots are now separated. Use underground parking if necessary)

I recently went back several times, I think they stopped serving soup during lunch. If they’re going to stop doing the lunch special soup, I wish they will tell me how to make the beef tomato soup lol

Staff are okay.
Frequently packed during mealtime specials.
Waiting service can get extremely busy.
My favorite dishes are amazing!!!!
There’s quite a bit of seating.
They do take group reservations for rentals, but I don’t know the details.
I remember you could rent the small room, not sure if they still do that.
Atmosphere has a slight cozy feel for a place that can seat so many people.

Awhile back, I went here to buy fried rice because of the epidemic. It was nice and empty. Service was fast while I waited outside for the cooks. I ordered Western style fried rice. One of my favorite dishes here! The food was so hot that the steam coming from the bag was burning my fingers while holding the bag. There was plastic/styrofoam chips in my fried rice. The bottom of my boxes had HUGE cracks in them; I think the intense exposure to the heat and weight of the foods caused the boxes to become brittle and crack while sitting on top of soup containers. It’s not a severe problem, I got home and flipped the box upside down onto a dish after getting several bites of styrofoam bits in my mouth. The spoon scooping had enough force to just chip styrofoam polymer pieces off, the foam was now hard brittle plastic.

Great food, I’d order it again during the shutdown to see if the problem still persists but the solution is to flip it into a heat-safe container, like ceramic.

Overall:
This place is outstanding!!! The food is great, staff can be helpful, and it amazing enough to bring my friends and family.

Haven’t been here in a while, but the value is better now.
$23 for the mixed plate is solid — big portion, no complaints.

The food is good, authentic HK style options. Service isn’t that great which is typical for these types of restaurants. You will need to flag down your server for any of your needs as they don’t come to check in on you. The Hainan chicken was very good.

I was craving for Hong Kong style afternoon tea and noodle soup on a rainy day, so I decided to stop by. Parking on the ground floor is always full, so I parked at the underground parking, which has plenty of spaces.

I got here at 4pm and afternoon tea is still available. I saw one waiter working, but he worked fast and noticed that I was waiting. He seated me promptly. I ordered my favorite beef satay vermicelli in soup and the famous Hong Kong style yuenyeung (mix of coffee and tea).

The satay beef noodle soup was very tasty! It was very flavorful, and has a little spiciness to it. It used to taste pretty bland. This gave me the “wow” effect, and I was very amazed by it. The yuenyeung is decent that was able to satisfy my craving!

I will come back again for more afternoon tea noodle!

I can count on J J Cafe being open late and having amazing authentic food. Parking is easy in their lot. Pleasant atmosphere and friendly wait service. I ordered the Won Ton Soup. I also ordered the Pork Hocks and Beef Stew Lo Mein. We got to put some of those noodles in our soup. Tender meat.
