The sushi was slightly below average, there was very little fish, which is really what people pay for, not just rice. A $16 roll shouldn’t look and taste the same as a $9 roll … that’s just unreasonable.
Our total came out to $90, and honestly, it wasn’t worth it. Maybe they should consider removing sushi from the menu altogether or at least teach the chef how to make it properly. Also, nothing about this place feels Japanese. Not a single Japanese staff member, so don’t be surprised if the sushi doesn’t taste the way you hoped. A sushi bar should have a trained sushi chef who actually knows what they’re doing.
The cocktails were tasty, and the service was friendly. It gets very loud when the “show” starts , so don’t expect a calm or cozy evening. This is more of a place for drinks and noise than for a quiet dinner out or even a date.
P.S. PLEASE stop beating the fish for carpaccio!!! It just needs to be cut into a thin layer.
Cherry is cheaper, food is better quality, you get bigger portions, and they have friendly service.
Ichiban is about the same price but the food quality blows nakato out of the water.
Fuji is also a great alternative!
Food quality keeps going down and prices keep going up. The menu and prices are so inconsistant that despite always ordering the same thing, i always get something different lol. Sometimes shrimp is tiny, sometimes its not, and the price is never the same. But it does always taste like its not stored properly and over salted to try to cover up the fishy taste. I had to pay 45.00 for a meal with 5 pieces of shrimp. And it wasn’t even good. And the menu said 33.00 but they didnt care because the button on the computer said 45. (Multiple people in my group were charged more than menu prices for different things and they would not adjust price – maybe we had outdated menus? Not sure as they had no answers for us) This place isnt what it used to be. Everyone seemed mad to even be working, not friendly at all despite us killing them with kindness.
This place is definitely on its way out of business.
Sushi
Miso soup
Ginger salad
Hibachi seafood, steak, shrimp, and scallops with fried rice, veggies ans and garlic noodles.
The atmosphere was dark and a light smoke hung in the air. This might be unavoidable with the fire and steam as part of the show, but it did bother me. They do have large fans over the cooking areas. It was very crowded also, but on a Saturday night this is probably to be expected.
The hibachi diners reported the food was excellent. We didn’t realize they were going to mix the food orders and give everyone some of each others orders. My son is significantly allergic to shrimp and began coughing and sneezing and his throat tightened as soon as he started eating. He ordered steak but some shrimp was put on his plate. He didn’t eat it, but shrimp must have touched his food somehow. It would be best if the waiter asked about food allergies at the time of ordering and took careful precautions. It could be an extremely dangerous mistake to make.
