Miss Toya’s didn’t disappoint. We had jerk chicken rolls, fried green tomatoes, fried deviled eggs with crab meat for appetizers. For dinner we had lamb chops, spinach, mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, oxtails, sweet potatoes, porch chops, fried cabbage, and sweet potatoes. We had bignets, and bread pudding. The food was amazing! Very flavorful! Customer service was excellent. Marquis didn’t disappoint. He was amazing! As a matter of fact several servers checked on us throughout our time there. The atmosphere was nice. We enjoyed the music. We will return.

The portion size to cost was excellent. Every plate was better than the last. My family and I had the loaded seafood, lamb chops, jumbalaya, and fish n grits. None of us could finish the portion but the taste was amazing. Definitely now in my top 3 for restaurants in DC. Shout out to our amazing server Marlo, very friendly and hospitable.

My experience at Miss Toya‘s was amazing. My waiters name was Dymond. She was super sweet. She made the experience there very memorable. She was attentive. She was funny. It was my first time in DC and I wanted to try a black owned restaurant and she made the place feel like home. She recommended me and my family like four different shopping malls, her opinions on which food we should try was very accurate. The food was great. I loved the music. I loved the vibe. Next time I’m in DC. I’m definitely coming back to this restaurant!

We came to DC for an event and decided to have brunch before we left to go back to Philly. The food here so good, my daughter had the pork chops and eggs, my husband had the grilled catfish and grits and I had the shrimp and grits. Erica was our waitress and she was awesome.

I came to this location a month or two ago, but the experience was definitely rememberable. The food was really good. It was flavorful and seasoned nicely, not too much nor too little. The drinks are definitely strong exactly how I like it! Great service and the atmosphere was cool. The waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and taste preference. I am definitely coming back again.

Service was really good, waiter was good, efficient and friendly!
Was a lot going on in the parking lot, inside was cool, the quality of the food clearly surpassed the atmosphere but a little TLC can handle all that!

Stopped by Miss Toya’s on a Friday evening around 6:30. It wasn’t too packed, but there were plenty of people at the bar having a great time. I ordered a margarita flight (4) and fried catfish with cabbage and mac & cheese. Everything was delicious! The catfish was perfectly fried. The mac was super cheesy, almost a little too cheesy, but still tasty. The margaritas?! Although on the smaller side because it was a flight of four, ONE of them had me second guessing if I wanted to drink a second. However, Im a light drinker, only drinking on weekends and not more than 1-2 drinks at a time, so it may not feel the same for everyone else. Service was great as well! I’ll absolutely be returning to try more items on the menu.

It was my first time coming here , it was for my brother’s 30th Birthday. Erika was our waiter and was very helpful and was on point with everything, taking our orders refilling multiple glassesof water as well. , most of our party was there first time as well. The food was delicious and everyone was pleased and full. Everyone ended up taking the rest of there food to go. I was definitely satisfied and will definitely come back.

when it comes to soul food, it’s always good to go w the classics like fried chicken. ordered to go from here and maybe that affected the quality? however, that shouldn’t be the case but I’ll review this on a curve…
got the fried chicken (half chicken) w collard greens and mac n cheese. also got an order of southern wings. the chicken, both half and wings, had a crunchy batter w good seasoning – not great. the half chicken was a bit dried, especially the breast. the wings were good…not trying to downplay it but nothing spectacular. the mac was a bit bland. I was expecting different cheese flavors that is savory w layers but it was monotonous in taste. the star was the greens. very tender. flavorful. would’ve been fine if I had both as the sides.
now, taste wise, everyone has a preference. but what shouldn’t be a preference is how the food is prepped and packaged off. the reason to go orders are available is because most of us are on our way to our destinations, whether near or far. I ordered my wings w sauce on the side because as a first timer, I don’t know what to expect and did not want it to ruin the overall taste if I don’t enjoy it. needless to say – it came w no sauce. dried. didn’t realized that until I’m already done my drive. very perturbed and inconvenient w the whole ordeal. I also filled out the online order w my name and they had difficulty locating that, but that’s besides the point.
overall – I have had better soul food from small local joint. while Miss Toya wasn’t bad, it wasn’t mind blowing. adequate. I definitely enjoyed the portion size and felt the prices were reasonable. for the 1st impression, wouldn’t come back…hence the review is on a curve because some people may like this.
ps:
parking situation is atrocious bere
