The food here is so delicious. We had kalbi, japchae, beef tofu soup, and pajeon. The flavor for every dish was really good, including the robust kalbi marinade and crispy and flaky pajeon. We got seated immediately, the atmosphere is pleasant, and the servers are attentive and friendly. My mother loves this restaurant and comes here often. Highly recommend it.

Jang Su Jang is a long-time Bay Area staple, the OG go-to for solid Korean food. Their menu includes the staples in addition to dishes that can be fairly hard to find, like acorn noodles (도토리국수), hand-cut noodles (칼국수), steamed pork (보쌈).

I have fond memories visiting JSJ growing up and came here for dinner again recently; the food was even better than I remembered. I got the oyster tofu soup for a chilly day (another dish I don’t see commonly at Korean restaurants. It hit the spot, and they were generous with the oysters. The banchan tasted fresh and house-made, and completed the meal perfectly.

The plaza is sadly dying, and the restaurant has a large alarming whiteboard sign at the entrance warning people not to leave valuables in the car. I hope the restaurant does okay–they are so under-rated compared to the trendy new (somewhat overpriced) places like Kunjip in MV and 10 Butchers.

Service was good, food arrived fairly quickly, bathrooms were well kept. There are also several tables with kBBQ grills. I’m going to make it a point to come here more often to support their business.

I had an unpleasant experience at this restaurant. The short rib my friend ordered tasted good, but unfortunately my own dish (ramen stew) was so salty that I couldn’t finish it. Because of that, I asked for one extra side dish broccoli. The server took the same plate I had already been eating from, added two more pieces on top, and brought it back cold – they tasted like they had just come straight from the fridge. In my experience at other Korean restaurants, they always bring extra banchan fresh on a new plate, so this felt careless and unappetizing.

What really disappointed me was the service at the end. We took 1 hour to finish our meal. After that, my friend and I stayed to chat for about 20–30 minutes. Around 5:15 p.m., when the restaurant was only about half full and there were plenty of empty tables, the server came over, took our cups without asking, and said “okay,” clearly signaling that we should leave. This felt so rude, especially given that the restaurant was not busy. I have never experienced this kind of treatment at a restaurant in the U.S.

Overall, while some of the food was good, the overly salty dish and especially the poor service left a very bad impression.

We had a great experience in this restaurant. The BBQ was a bit pricey but it had so much meat and the waitresses cook it for you, so it was worth it. Meat was delicious too with plenty of side dishes.

Very delicious Korean food – our go to spot. If you order the noodles, rice, or meat dishes, it can be enough for two people. The stone bowl bibimbap is my favorite here, I order with tofu and vegetables. Many side dishes provided. The Korean bbq meats can be a bit expensive. Like every Korean bbq, you have to order two meat dishes, which can come out to at least $100 bucks. That’s a bit much on my end, but my wife says the meat quality is fantastic. The service is fantastic – the ladies always do a great job here. We keep coming back with friends.

Best Korean Food Near Me, Highly Recommended

I love this place — it’s near my home, and every time we stop by the staff is nice, kind, and welcoming. We always enjoy having our lunch or dinner here because the food is always fresh, delicious, and full of authentic Korean flavor.

The dishes are perfectly cooked and full of taste, and the atmosphere makes you want to come back again and again.

If you’re looking for the best Korean food in the area, this is definitely the place to go.

I adore Korean food. So being so close to Koreatown, I had to check out the most recommended place, Jang Su Jang. The restaurant is located in a strip mall. The interior was clean. We were seated right away and given water while we decided on what to get. The menu was quite varied. Korean BBQ, Soups & Stews, Pajeon, Bibimbap, etc. I chose the seafood soft tofu stew. It was delicious. My only complaint was the shrimp still had their shells on, which makes the stew a pain to peel & then eat. The banchan selection was nice. All of it was tasty. The check came and when asked to split the check, they literally split it in half without regard to what each of us purchased.

Spent a week in MTV at the home office, and was recommended Jang Su Jang. It was a great mid week experience. Not crowded or loud. Had the Yookejang Mandooguk, and it was yummy.

As long as you order the right stuff, you will get a wonderful experience of Korean food, with exceptional service as well.
We got granted with 8 different side dish first before our main dish coming, especially liked their kimchi, sweet and tangy.
The spicy beef soup surprised us with a ton of flavor and savory together. We love it!

The plaza looks deserted but once you are inside the restaurant, it’s nice and big inside. There are two types of tables, depending on if you order BBQ or not. The server takes care of the grilling so you don’t have to worry about it.
Food was really good, service was quick. Love it!

Edit: when I traveled to Seoul this year, one local coworker recommended a Bay Area Korean BBQ restaurant to me, and it was this one. Small world 😉
