I was completely surprised. Coming from GA, I didn’t have too many expectations for BBQ in Iowa. The food was absolutely amazing. Everyone had a good time and enjoyed the food. I had onion rings, Cajun chicken sandwich, and the baked beans. Everything was cooked to perfection. The baked beans had a distinctive flavor that I wasn’t familiar with but tasted good. Definitely recommend if you are in town. You can’t beat the prices either. Very affordable.

This was my first time visiting. The menu had a lot of options and our waitress (Carmen, I think) was very pleasant. The food was presented well and very tasty. The mac and cheese was really creamy but could use just a touch more seasoning. The sauce variety on the table complemented the food well!

Not to bad. We had a softball team in the backroom with two servers an they pulled it off pretty well. Drinks came first, orders, appetizers, food, bills an done. Very friendly and fast to answer your questions. Food was hot and plenty of it. My meal was wings, mashed potatoes, and tried jalapeño cream corn which was pretty good. Facility was very clean, nice decor and looks like a food challenge to give a try at for the food competitors.

Coworker and I went here for lunch and watched some of the Iowa State basketball game on their rather large TV screens they have all over the place. This was a fish time for both of us at this location, however, the coworker has eaten before at the Ankeny location. Well from the beginning it was packed and very loud atmosphere at 1100 on a Thursday afternoon. I guess it is spring break so could be why it was so busy. Anyway, after eating a chicken pulled melt sandwich at $9.95 and a sweet tea at $250, I was full and the portions were just right amount of meat. Coworker ate a pulled pork sandwich and fries and enjoyed as well. My only complaint was there was no parking as several businesses are in that little area and during lunch time there are not a whole lot of places to eat, so parking needs to be improved or start car pooling. As far as the food goes, it is now a defiant that I do not palate the smoked flavoring well as the meats are usually dry and leave an aftertaste in your mouth. It had flavor and when you drown it with the BBQ sauce then it tastes better. I won’t be back anytime soon however, if you enjoy smoked flavoring and loud atmospheres and dry meats then you will love this place.

I came in with moderately good expectations after reading the menu, but was genuinely impressed, especially by the pork chops, but high-fives are due the stuffing and the brisket, too. Would happily return to try more of the menu, and the service was extra friendly and helpful, too.

Decided to try some BBQ while in the area. Chose wings and a pulled chicken sandwich with Mac N Cheese for a side. The wings were amazing! Mild smoke flavor with a great Hot Buffalo sauce. Sauce wasn’t very spicy but a great flavor. Would definitely do them again. The pulled chicken sandwich and Mac N Cheese were both very disappointing. Chicken had zero flavor. I ended up putting sauce on it for any flavor. I was hoping for a smoked chicken flavor. Went with Jethro’s sauce first and it was ok. Added the Carolina sauce and that helped. I usually don’t Carolina sauce, but this helped the sandwich. The mac was plain as well. I would not do either of these again. Service was adequate. Waitresses were pleasant. They appear to be in a rush even though the place wasn’t very busy on a Monday dinner rush. There were plenty of service staff and seating was very quick. Overall this was just an okay place to eat.

Ordered literally half the menu to have dinner with friends and try everything. Everything was delicious, definitely in my top 3 bbq restaurants. If I’m ever back in Iowa, I’m there!

Great food. The stuffed pork chop was nice. The brisket was really good too. Onion rings are big and crunchy battered. The boneless wings are probably still one of my favorites. Half Georgia mustard, and half chili teriyaki. It was a bit loud with the TVs going. Went on a Saturday night during wild card games, so.
