We seriously love this place.
Plaza Mexico has become one of those go-to spots for us in North Beach. Whether it’s a random weeknight when we don’t feel like cooking or a weekend dinner after walking by the water, it just always hits.
The food is consistently good. The tacos are packed with flavor, the fajitas come out sizzling and smell amazing, and the portions are generous without feeling over the top. It’s comforting, reliable, and exactly what you want when you’re craving Mexican food. And the margaritas? They’re strong in the best way and actually taste fresh.
What really keeps us coming back, though, is the vibe. It feels relaxed and welcoming, not pretentious, not rushed. The staff is friendly and makes you feel comfortable, like they’re genuinely happy you’re there.
It’s one of those local spots that just feels easy. Good food, good drinks, good people. We’re really glad it’s in North Beach.

Used to go here all the time but stopped due to poor service and cold food. Not “sat in the window too long” cold but “we pre made this and have been keeping it in the fridge so we can serve it faster” cold.
Tried them again today to give another shot and man just don’t waste your time. Everything is flavorless except the hot sauce.
It’s very true that the service in the restaurant is way better than over the phone and half the time you have to call several times before anyone picks up.
I’m sure they’re short staffed but dang guys like it’s just not acceptable anymore.

We were visiting from out of town and found this Mexican food gem. Huge menu selection! Large well stocked bar. Seating inside and out. The place can seat many! The staff pleasant, attentive, and busy! Free parking on nearby streets. Restaurant near the boardwalk and Chesapeake Bay. Antique shops nearby. I will be back!

We had an amazing meal here. It was an awesome family friendly atmosphere. We had a really wonderful server who had a great personality and served us really fast, and he joked around with our kids making them laugh!
Totally recommend the food – the meal was great all around. My husband had the grande burrito and it was possibly the best burrito we’ve ever had. Plus the Xango was a big highlight – my husband said it was possibly one of the best desserts he’s ever eaten.
100% would come back!

The food was good, I liked the outdoor place, our son played outside with other kids while we were eating. It’s very a friendly atmosphere in it.

I’ve been coming here for a while, and I will say the service is iffy. Today I came in for a pick up order, the restaurant wasn’t busy at all. Sat in the waiting area for 10 mins. No one acknowledged me, multiple workers walked by and said absolutely nothing. Another 3 mins go by and a family walks in after me and a server immediately took them to their seats, not even asking me what I was there for. Another 4 minutes go by and finally someone brings my order and no warm greeting. Basically snatches the card out of my hand and slams the receipt and pen down on the counter for me to sign and walks away. No “thank you” or “have a good day”. A couple after me gets a “hi how are you, I’ll take you over here” Got home and everything was cold, I had to air fry the food I expected fresh, but because I was waiting so long it was soggy. This isnt the first time I’ve experienced service like this. One server charged my card of $80 from another order and had an attitude with me because I was asking questions about how I was going to receive my money back. And no I don’t want a response about language barrier. Like I said I’ve been coming here for a while and everyone speaks well. Today was my last time I will be spending my money at Plaza Mexico. They seem to only like serving a “certain type” of people. I have never been rude, or unkind to anyone working there to be treated like that, it is ridiculous.

Enjoyed a recent visit on a Saturday night in September. Quite busy but were seated immediately outside.
Service was friendly, but I should have asked for water right away, they don’t bring automatically like they do chips.
Large menu with selections you would expect.
I ordered a steak and shrimp platter. It was cooked perfectly. Shrimp was the highlight on the plate, nice size and lovely flavor.
The frozen margarita was amazing! Balance of strong but delicious!
Would have been 5, but our table had a broken area, service was a little slow (possibly covering a lot of tables) and our take away for someone at home was overcooked/dry, but not much we could do since we took it to go )
If ever in North beach, would totally go again.

I usually set my standards for a good Mexican restaurant by how good their salsa is. There’s is excellent. The food was just fantastic. Need to check them out, I think you will agree. This is the newest place that’s sits as No.1 on my scale

Decided give this place a try as soon I walked in was greeted by friendly staff and was immediately seated. The food was really good, I had the grilled chicken(which was not dry or tasteless), veggies on top side of rice and salad. Really tasty dish except side salad was meh. Over all I enjoyed the food and atmosphere of this place will definitely come back if I’m in chesapeake beach again.
