Arrived about 5:30pm Fri evening. 30 minute wait on a table for 4, so we ordered appetizers at the bar. Green bean fries, jalapeno bites, and cauliflower bites with sweet chili sauce. All excellent choices.
Great fish fry. Choices of cod, walleye, or blue gills. Beer batter fried or baked w lemon pepper. Choice of potato pancakes, baked, or tots. Homemade cole slaw. Kids had burgers, which were great too.

After staying the night in Chicago, we wanted to grab something to eat on our way home to central Wisconsin. I jumped on Google Maps and looked for something around Beloit and fairly close to the Interstate. This place had awesome reviews, especially for their fish fry. So I set Waze to their location and we arrived right around noon.
We were surprised it wasn’t too busy… yet! Our waitress, Tiffany, was very pleasant and answered all our questions about the menu.
I ordered the Bluegill and a cup of their clam chowder, and Christi ordered the Black and Blue Ranch Wrap, minus the mushrooms. The Bluegill was cooked perfectly, with a nice light breading, not greasy at all. The clam chowder was thick and very good! And I loved the tots! Christi really enjoyed the wrap, taking half of it home for lunch the next day.
The food came out quickly and very hot.
Tiffany was awesome. Very attentive and delightful.
By the time we finished our meal, the place was almost completely full.
We will keep The Shopiere Tap on our favorite places to visit when we go to Chicago for our conferences.

Indoor and outdoor seating, great view of the river. Great food and cold beer Employees are very nice. Clean kitchen. Can get very busy on Friday and Saturday, but have plenty of help to serve you.

Been going here for years, but VERY disappointed with our experience today. Food wasn’t great, barely warm at best & they wouldn’t honor a gift card we recently received because they are under new ownership. That isn’t right. The business received money for that gift card when our friends purchased it…the Shopiere Tap should should honor it! NOT a great first impression. Not inclined to want to go back.

Best fish fry on Wednesday’s & Friday’s! I get the 3 piece grilled cod with potato pancakes! Drink prices are decent. Also heard they have excellent meat raffles in Sunday’s!

Food was good, we enjoy going here. But the server we’ve had the last couple times can’t keep up with her tables and isn’t very friendly. If you have a question about the menu, don’t ask, you’ll get eye rolls and snarky answers. We asked about the nightly special and were treated like idiots for not knowing the answer but we had never been there that night of the week.
