This was the first Gia Mia location I went to and have been here several times since as well as there other locations in St. Charles and Wheaton. I’ve loved coming here for years, whether it’s dine in or carry out, Gia Mia is a tri-city local gem and a staple at the least! Hammakers pie is my favorite, as well as the Tuscan bean soup, Chicken Parmesan and the local gelato they serve. I can count on Gia Mia to always provide the same quality and goodness! Also note: they offer half off pizzas on Mondays.

While the food was good, it was overpriced and nothing really stood out as especially memorable. The server was well trained but rushed to the point I had to “flag her down” when she was passing each time I needed something. And lastly, it’s a very minor point, but I kinda wanted to hear something calming or romantic like maybe Sinatra or Dean Martin crooning Italian songs …. Instead I got Pearl Jam, Metallica, and many other songs/bands of that genre that I didn’t recognize.
All in all I see it as a pretender in the really nice date night category.
Good food, nice interior, knowledgeable servers (but not attentive), and overpriced for the dining experience.

My family and I went to Gia Mia to celebrate my birthday. Here are a few of the reasons why we scored it a 2 star. It gets extremely loud in there, so just fyi it’s not the place to have a conversation on a busy night. It’s also EXTREMELY warm in there from the pizza oven, they need to do a better job of ventilating the place or cooling off the restaurant, especially for those seated right by the kitchen.
Upon arrival, our waiter didn’t ask for orders until 20 min after being seated. The calamari was truly so awful, it was in tubes rather than the usual rings and had a texture of mozzarella cheese/chicken – it was strange! They also deep fried a lemon with the rind- were we supposed to eat that?!
When our food arrived, a waitress was helping our waiter and just started slamming plates down in front of people without asking who had what order- these were incorrectly placed and she didn’t care to help sort it out; as well as she put hot plates right by our young child. She came back with a pizza and tried to reach over our son with a hot pizza, kicked my husband in the leg and didn’t say sorry and then just literally threw the pizza on the table where the pizza almost went flying off the pan, no apology for that either! My son had the kids meal and the waiter did not ask what beverage he wanted, I had to ask if he could have one, and then we never got his gelato that came with the meal. We were never asked by our waiter if the food was good or if we needed anything during our meal. We brought a cake for my birthday and we were not offered extra spoons or forks to eat our cake with and had to ask again. I understand it was a busy evening but we were a party of 7 and kind of hard to miss and we ordered cocktails and apps, so I would think we were deserving of better service. The food was cooked well and flavorful with good portions, which made up for the service a little bit. I will say the beet salad is very good, and the risotto was plentiful and delicious.

Enjoyed an amazingly delicious lunch today at Gia Mia. We ordered the $13 lunch special which is a pizza for one and a side salad. Both pizzas and salads were delicious and filling. The restaurant had a really great vibe, super clean, and service was excellent.

Went here for the 14 dollar lunch special and was not disappointed. Started with the Butternut Squash appetizer (not included in the special) and had the Vodka sauce pasta and the Italian Farm salad. The vodka sauce was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. The salad was very good and filling. Downside was the service. Waitress was very nice but a bit slower than I like especially at lunch. Overall, definitely a good experience.

Great esthetic with wonderful dishes. Gia Mia is an Italian restaurant located on the corner or 3rd and 38 in Gevena,Il. Be warned, parking can be challenging due to the location. I recommend making a reservation!
The charming outside of the building shows class and is tastful with its subtle landscape. Inside the building is compact due to the size of the restaurant, but the layout of the dining room gives comfortable, classy, rustic yet modern Italian vibes. The menu is clean, easy to follow, and descriptive of each dish. Items to choose from are plentiful and somewhat unique. Each dish ordered was packed with great flavors and nicley proportioned. Honestly, there are no complaints on tastes of anything ordered. Sadly, I do have a complaint from all in my party! While dining in, the establishment was hot. The dining areas air conditioning seemed like it was not operational. The 85 degrees outside seemed cooler, making the stay unpleasant and had us all sweating. Other than this issue, Gia Mai is a great place for a date night or social gathering. Many of the patrons in attendance appeared to be out on a date. Overall, Gia Mia is a nice place worth the price!

Service and food were great!! I had the arugula shrimp avocado salad and I’m still dreaming about it! My only thing was the tables facing the bar were so tightly squeezed together. When needing to leave the table I had to squeeze past other people eating and it was just uncomfortable. Other than that everything was great!!

I’m in there in a while but we received a gift card for Christmas. Matt was an excellent server. The food was delicious. The focaccia bread $14.99 lunch special I have the most delicious salad. Either one is great. A lot of fun.
