DOCK of the BAY
Their crab cakes are delicious! And the view of the lighthouse makes you feel like you’re in a world away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life. They have lots is seafood dishes (Chicken Chesapeake is a favorite of mine) as well as lots of others tasty menu items and specials.
It is so serene on the water there. It’s a great place for a date night or to just hang out. Indoor and outdoor seating abounds. There’s a playground there for the kids, too. Located on Miller’s island it’s convenient to most places yet it’s far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

It’s a local watering hole that might impress the locals, but it’s nothing special in my opinion. I was here for a party and the atmosphere is very drab inside, but I still had a good time. The food was decent, and the crab cakes were excellent, with no filler at all, but the burger sliders were dry and the jerk chicken was more pepper flavor than true jerk flavor. Service was okay and it does offer a nice spot on the water, so that’s very appealing. Overall, I’d go back again if ever in the area and I’m invited, but it’s not exactly on my short list to go back on my own.

We went to celebrate our anniversary. The experience was one of the worst I have ever had. There were kids running around laughing screaming having a ball while the parents sat on the other side enjoying their conversation. Eventually the waitress ask if the kids were bothering us and if so she would let the parents know. If she knew to come ask, then she should have just said something to the parents. We ordered a cocktail….I ask for a tall glass because I like my drink less strong. The drink came in a Big Gulp type cup….hilarious!! I had to laugh. This was a first for me. Now the meal… the worst part!! The rock fish bites were battered and deep fried..so greasy I couldn’t eat them. I ordered the Mahi Mahi kabobs described on the menu “Blackened Mahi with pineapple squash zucchini onion etc” I get the food and its a kabob not Kabobs with green pepper and onion. The fish was hard on the outside. It looked like it was reheated in a broiler. The fish was dry the peppers and onion were dried up. I ask the waitress where the pineapple and squash/zucchini were she explained they have a new chef and this is how he does it. Hummmm chef is an overstatement!! Needless to say I didn’t eat it. The kabob came with Au gratin potatoes. There was a ton of cheese and barely any potatoes and also reheated under a broiler or microwaved. Now for my husband….he ordered stuffed shrimp imperial. The shrimp was piled with crab but again like my meal it tasted dry like it was reheated under a broiler or grill. The broccoli was so cold the butter wouldn’t melt and was burnt on the bottom……it was grilled or broiled I don’t know. His au gratin potatoes were similar to mine. My husband eats anything literally and he skipped this meal! We paid a total of $100 for this meal that ultimately ended up in the trash bin! My 18yo grandson tried and wouldn’t eat it either and he eats anything!!! We ended up at our go to place Costas and had a few drinks to forget the terrible experience we had celebrating our 29th anniversary! Should have stuck with our go to place Costas. It is always consistently good!!
A picture of my cocktails for your enjoyment!!

This was maybe my third time at this establishment and wanted to share my experience. We took my MIL for Mother’s Day and while we had a reservation, they were so slammed it took 20 minutes to even get through the line to talk to the hostess, and the food took a veeeery long time to come out.

So why five stars? Bc it’s worth the wait! Not only is it to be expected that a reasonably-priced seafood restaurant on the water would be busy on a holiday, despite the chaos our waitress could not have been sweeter (and as my husband and I were paying the bill she, without our asking, kindly helped my MIL pack up her leftovers bc she noticed her hands are a bit weak and she was struggling). I wish I caught her name so she could get a shoutout she deserves!

We were lucky to have a beautiful day and loved sitting by the water watching the ducks as we chatted and waited for our food. And the food? Amazing! My MIL wanted to come here for the stuffed mushrooms and they did not disappoint. We also got some calamari, which has a nice, flavorful breading and some cream of crab soup. My MIL said her crabcake was all crab no filler, and I enjoyed my crabby patty. I will say my husband didn’t love his sandwich (it was highlighted on the menu as a popular choice, but the shrimp/chicken/pepper/cheese combo didn’t quite jive). That aside, we had a great meal, in a great location, with great service from our server, so despite the awful delay from the holiday rush, I’d say it was a perfect place to celebrate and will be back!

This place is wonderful. It’s clean, the food is good and the service is lovely. Only request I would have is to offer a few vegetarian options. I asked to leave the meat of the things I ordered, but it would be cool if a cheaper version of the chicken quesedilla for example would be available. But this place overall is a gem!

First time trying and it was lack luster….
Husband was all about it but me and our daughter wasn’t. Got a sense it wasn’t going to be the best when the table behind us had an issue with their food. Crab pretzel was ehh; pretzel was cold half way through on the bottom. I got rockfish dinner which the fish was just ok; the side was supposed to be fried rice – idk what kind of rice that was and tasted off/was just rice with eggs in it so got another side that took forever to come out. Husband meal was ok – the sides were the best part; the fried seafood was just ok.

While waiting for dinner just felt like on an episode of Gordon Ramsay kitchen nightmares.

Bad first impression. We started with the crab dip. It tasted exactly like whipped cream cheese with melted cheese on it. I dug through it looking for hunks of crab meat to put on my pretzel…thought I found one but it was just a hunk of cream cheese. We did let our waitress know how come we didn’t eat it and she was nice enough to remove it from our bill. My mother had the rockfish bites. Greasy on the outside and dry on the inside. She also had the Maryland crab soup. Not sure if you know this but crab soup should have crabmeat in it. My mother counted exactly 1 piece of meat. ‍♀️
I had the wings…extra crispy…and they were cooked just the way I like them and were fantastic. Now…let’s get to the cream of crab my husband had. Tasted like lukewarm milk. Not even hot. Very disappointed. The location of this restaurant is great. Plenty of parking. Also has an outdoor seating area. The owners have a cash cow sitting there but it looks like it’s not maintained. Walked in the door and one of the glass windows cracked. The outside walkway was full of cigarette butts. The menus are falling apart and the windows looking out over the water are disgustingly dirty. Save your money on food and just go for the drinks.

Good food. Great staff (always very nice and helpful). Nice atmosphere, with good views of the water. They have a monthly specials menu that always has a couple of fresh and creative options. There are sometimes inconsistencies from the kitchen, but not enough to cause me to not want to return. In the summer, the flies outside can be a but overwhelming.

Location is on the water. You can dock your boat or drive up.
Watch the birds or fish jumping out of the water. They have daily specials. They have seafood and other things.
Prices are decent. Waitresses, and servers are very good. They have a pier to walk out and look at the water.
