I had a great experience here. They had a list of specials for the day (including the pesto gnocchi pictured below) along with their normal menu. I got a personal pizza which had a great finish and taste to it. No complaints for the food. I did not get anything at the bar but they seemed to have a good selection. The location is also something to note. Plenty of shops and places to get coffee if you are interested in doing something after you are done.
Main reason for the four stars is there were a bunch of flies around our table that the staff didn’t seem to care or do anything about, and it took about 20-30mins after we got our take home box to get a check, eventually had to ask. Minor details but felt they needed to be mentioned. I would come back for a to go pizza!

I was supper excited to try Black Bear Bistro because of all the reviews and word of mouth. I was nothing but disappointed. We waited a bit for menus then ordered an appetizer of crab and spinach dip. Took forever to get our appetizer and when we did, there wasn’t enough bread to eat all the dip. The worst part is our meals arrived right after so we didn’t get to eat much anyway. All the food lacked any seasoning so it all tasted bland. The bread was stale and the fries were soggy with no salt or seasoning. The lettuce on the sandwiches had brown spots throughout and the chicken salad had gristle in it. There was four of us and we got our check, $100 for lunch, which included a 10% tax. What??? This is the most expensive lunch for something that was beyond disappointing. We will not be visiting this restaurant again.

This was a happening place on a Sunday afternoon. Brunch and a regular menu were offered. We went with the Brunch menu – sausage and gravy on biscuits for me and cheeseburger hash for my wife. We shared both plates and both were quite good! There is a nice porch out back and we ate in a mild breeze with sunshine. Our waiter was great and the food arrived promptly.

I’ve been to Black Bear Bistro twice and have had great but very different experiences each time. This restaurant feels like 3 different restaurants. They have the upstairs which is very casual and bright with a bar. Then downstairs there is another bar and a seating area that feels more formal (this part is cozy and would be perfect for a date night) then in the back downstairs is another seating area with a brickoven. The same menu is availablein all areas. The mixed drinks are delicious. The fried oysters are highly recommended. The pizza is very good. The hot dogs are just hot dogs. Nothing special. The service here is very good, staff is friendly. I’m looking forward to coming back!

Very enjoyable first time in this quaint, romantic restaurant. Fast, friendly service from hostess to table. All drinks, appetizers, entrees, and desserts came out on time, were well seasoned, and delicious. Overall an excellent experience, would definitely return again.

Update: Had brunch there today. The butternut squash ravioli was amazing. Wonderful service.

Great place to grab lunch with friends or family. Super relaxed environment located near some good shopping in downtown Warrenton. Parking can be a bit of a challenge so allow yourself a few extra minutes if you are on a schedule.

Just had the vodka rigatoni today and a wonderful Bloody Mary. (Best I’ve had in a long time). Moving the Black Bear to five stars. A must if you are in Warrenton on Main Street.

Below avg food that is over priced. The Pepperoni Roll was not even close to being good. Sauce was watery (Literally had water in the spoon), cold and I believe the cook forgot to put it in the oven to even melt the cheese on top. To be fair they took it off our bill after we told our server it was not good. The pulled pork sandwich was overloaded with BBQ sauce. It said it was smoked which I could see the smoker out side but I could not taste any smoke flavor over the BBQ sauce. Also it contained one to many fatty bits for my taste but I know some ppl enjoy that. For the price and what you are paying for I do not recommend this place.
