Little country place clean and quiet and safe. I do this all the time so I had a basic meal, cheeseburger fries, fried pickles. if you messed that up you’d mess anything up. Food was good tasty and fresh.
The main thing I liked was a service, they had a lot of wait staff working, which a lot of places don’t.
My waitress Tanya was outstanding, friendly, patient and professional. I pushed her a little bit with some whining and extra requests and she did great. It has a ton of parking, inside seating, an outside area and a bar that serves beer and wine.
I definitely recommend this place.

We went on a Saturday. It was very busy. The special was the state part and you get to pick the steak. We got a 12 ounce ribeye medium. It was delicious. Also got the steak tips, baked potato, and green beans and chicken tenders with french fries all delicious. We started with gator bites. They were the best I’ve ever had. This is definitely a neighborhood Restaurant Would go there regularly if we were closer, but it was an hour and 20 minute drive but worth it.

Update! Went back a 2nd time now. Drove 1:40 each way. Still steak perfection!

Original post: I would give this 25 Stars it I could! This is the finest Hidden Gem of all the Hidden Gem restaurants I have reviewed. If you’ve read my reviews before, you know that I fly all over the world with business and I review restaurants while there. I have eaten at many of the world’s finest steakhouses. The finest two or three in Dallas, the finest in Albuquerque, the finest in Vegas and Los Angeles, the finest in New York, Omaha. Berns and Okeechobee in Florida, supposedly the number one and two there. I’ve also eaten the finest steaks supposedly in Sydney, Australia, Brisbane, Melbourne, Seoul, South Korea and in Tokyo, Japan. I am telling you that not a single one is even close to the steak I had at the Gator Shack. Not representative of its name at all, the Gator Shack is located in the heart of cattle country in Florida. This is not a white cloth Steakhouse. This is just the finest steak you will ever eat. They will wheel a cart around full of the most beautiful cuts and sizes of ribeyes, strips and filets. Your choice of steak and get ready for heaven in your mouth. I have easily paid over $100 for a steak of lesser quality. My 10 ounce Filet was only $45 bucks with a choice two perfectly prepared sides. My buddy had a 18oz ribeye the melted in your mouth. We warmed up on a round of fried Gator Tail add Fried Pickles. Again, this is not a fancy white cloth restaurant. This is just a Southern food and steaks cooked to perfection. I would easily drive 2.5 hours one way just to have a steak here. If you are in Orlando, to Daytona, to Tampa, to Fort Lauderdale, anywhere in that zone, make the drive to The Gator Shack. 25/10 must go here! 10/10 isn’t good enough..

I don’t get all the good reviews, maybe we just picked a bad night to go. We got there at 6pm and did not get our food until almost 7:30. We only stayed because of the reviews, hoping the food would be worth the long wait. Big mistake…I ordered a 10 oz ribeye, cooked medium. It was barely warm; afraid it was going to start mooing at me. My husband ordered the 22 oz medium as well, also way undercooked. Our server, who was not really engaged until it was time to pay(tip), said she would make sure to tell the manager. Stated he had already had to talk to the cooks. She should have spoken to the manager when she saw how raw the steaks were, not after we left. She saw we did not eat the steaks. Thinking back, first sign should have been being served a Sprite with a lemon seed floating in the bottom of the glass. Where did that come from?? Nevermind, I’m probably better off not knowing.
Also, you supposedly get to pick your steak on the weekends, which we were not offered to do. But we watched a server roll the steak cart to a table so they could make their choice, but she left the cart there for some reason and walked away. One lady at the table kept removing the trays and was poking the steaks. I don’t think the health department would agree with the customers handling the food that way. I don’t think the meat should be unrefrigerated either, seems like a lot of code violations to me.
If you want a steak, go to a real steakhouse. Don’t pay $65.00 per raw steak, shitty service, and a bad case of food poisioning.
If you want to waste a few hours of your time, get food that has been manhandled by the patrons, and glasses that have not been washed then this is the place for you.

@The Gator Shack — I personally want to thank you all for another amazing lunch experience. I was there a few weeks ago and let the staff know I’d be rolling in with 20–30 riders… we ended up with 34, and wow — your team absolutely delivered.

The place was full, we had seating, drinks were ordered, food was hot and on point, and we were in and out in about 1 hour and 15 minutes. That kind of “burn and turn” (in the best way) with a large group is impressive.

Thank you again to the entire staff, and Larry, it was great meeting you in person. I truly appreciated the chance to let you know how much #WCFR appreciates your team’s effort. With service and food like that, this definitely won’t be our last stop.

I’ve always enjoy their Friday or Saturday steak specials. The steaks are fantastic and also the side dishes. However it is costly. I need to try other dinner specials. I don’t think anyone has been disappointed.
I will go back for another dinner. However, when the snowbird season is here, you can expect to wait for a table.

Four of us stopped in for dinner on a Tuesday evening. We were greeted with smiles and seated immediately. The place was lively and filled with big groups.
Our food was served hot and quickly.
We dug into both the appetizers before l had a chance to take pics.
One of our party members stated the gator bites were the best he had ever tasted. The homemade pineapple habanero sauce for the coconut shrimp had just the right amount of kick to it.
We enjoyed our meal very much as we have all the previous times we’ve dined at The Gator Shack.

We will definitely return
Highly recommended.

Two couples rolled in around 5:30 for dinner on a Sunday.
The place was clean, and the people were friendly.
Our waitress was very friendly and did a good job, she forgot a couple of things, but she had several tables in her area.

We ordered some beers and Ordered the gator bites appetizer.
The gator bites were cooked properly, but a little bit chewy. The sauce was good.

Prices for the beers were pretty good. Miller light draft was about three bucks.

My wife ordered the barbecue pork sandwich with crinkle cut french fries.
Plenty of fries and the sandwich was good.

I ordered the shack platter grilled with hand cut french fries. The meal consisted of gator bites, white fish and shrimp. It came with a choice of salad or coleslaw. I chose the coleslaw, which was good.
I had hand cut fries, which were superb and plentiful.

Someone ordered the mahi dinner blackened with seared mac & cheese and okra. The mahi was a little bit dry, possibly overcooked.
The seared mac & cheese was really good and interesting.

Another person ordered the frog leg dinner which consisted of four sets of frog legs. He said they were a little bit small but very good.

Several of us had fried okra, which was plentiful and very tasty.
The portions are pretty large.
I want to go back and try some other stuff in the future!
