We found this little tavern about half a block from our hotel room. Some of the people traveling with us had trouble with some of the other taverns and bars due to reservations. We later found out from the locals that it’s best to stay away from the north side due to the service being a little different for visitors. Well, we definitely did not have any problems with service here. This local pub had a good crowd and there was only seating available at the bar. We were immediately served and made friends with a local as soon as we sat down. They definitely made us feel at home and the experience here compared to the north side was definitely different. It wasn’t anything fancy, just good company and good drinks. We only stayed a while because we had to get up early in the morning but by the time we left that place was jam-packed and booming. We would definitely be back.

Update: I came back several times over my last visit. Still my favorite bar in the south loop so far. Didn’t try the food this trip either, but it looks and smells good. I just read my book and drank Two Hearted. Sometimes it was quite, sometimes it was standing room only. Good local hangout.

The dive bar I was looking for. Extensive selection of beers, liquor and dark wood draped atmosphere. A classic old bar feel, with no pretentious atmosphere. Stopped by for a couple of beers while out and about in the area. Not really much to say about it, they do have a kitchen but I didn’t order food this go around. I could easily see this as my neighborhood bar if I was so lucky to be able to swing that.

Amazing authentic bar to visit. It’s not big but you will find a place to sit even during high hours.

We’ve got enough attention from the barman. She brought us a sample of beer after having a discussion about one certain type of it. It was very sweet of her.

The bar is really affordable and situated in the downtown.

Friendly sports bar with good service and a wide beer selection on tap. Don’t order a margarita—they use a super-sweet mix and serve it in a rocks glass. We went there for serval nights in a row while visiting Chicago. We always got a table.
