The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere overall, though the seating choice slightly took away from the experience. I was seated in the center row, which saw a lot of foot traffic, and servers and guests frequently brushed past my chair. While minor, it became distracting and affected overall comfort.
Service was good attentive and polite, though not particularly memorable. The staff checked in consistently and were responsive when needed, which kept the experience smooth and welcoming.
Pressed for time, I stopped in for a quick bite and decided to sample an appetizer. I ordered the Paneer 69, having previously tried Paneer 65 and wanting to explore something different. The dish had a distinct and unconventional flavor profile, leaning heavily toward South Indian influences. The taste felt like a fusion of sambar style spices, South Indian masala, and a hint of ketchup like sweetness. It was certainly unique, though the boldness may not suit everyone.
Overall, a decent first impression with interesting flavors, though a few refinements in seating flow and flavor balance could elevate the experience further.

Had a long day. Came back home. Was really craving something light and refreshing. I came to Godavari. Asked the manager for his favourite. He suggested me “Belgium Biscuit Ice cream” I never take anything other than my usual chocolate flavour. But I must say. His suggestion didn’t disappoint. Really nice. I wish good luck to them.

I’ve ordered biryanis twice (1 gongura mutton, 1 spl gongura chicken) from here and both have been great! Even the salna tasted amazing! The quantity was good enough for 2 ppl.

Godavari Restaurant is a great spot for South Indian food with a surprisingly wide variety. I tried the Schezwan egg and vegetable noodles, and they were really good, flavorful and well-cooked. The quantity of both the noodles and egg was generous. While I felt the price could be slightly lower, the taste definitely made up for it.

For dessert, I had the chocolate ice cream, which was delicious and a must-try. One thing that really stood out was the variety of food and ice cream options, which is rare to see, especially for a restaurant on an Indian street.

The staff were extremely respectful and polite, offering great customer service throughout. I also liked the ambience – there are separate partitions for the dine-in area and the ice cream section, which makes the place feel organized and comfortable. Overall, a pleasant experience and worth visiting.

I usually do not write reviews . But gotta do it after what they sent me last night . Ordered boneless pulao but got some spoiled dish in place of it . I try to give these guys a chance but always disappoints me . For $18 dish through Uber Eats I paid $30 including tips. Have some respect towards your customer. Cannot rely on these guys at all one day it’s good and second day they disappoint . Very inconsistent behavior and service. Learn something from your Princeton branch . They are classy and consistent . One day I ordered sambar rice and chicken . Princeton version is too good .. this Jersey city guys are so lousy they put chicken 65 on top of sambar rice and sends it lol. Everyone should understand how much upset and frustrated with this branch . Sambar rice is full of unwanted scrap in it. I order a lot from these guy but what they pulled last night is a line when they cheated their repeat customer .

To the owner : if you do not have control over your kitchen and staff do not run this restaurant and spoil the brand . Disgusting that they even tried to send me spoiled food . For god sake stop cutting corners dude !!

Worst service and restaurant I ever seen in my life

I ordered two times from this restaurant first time they said we don’t have dish and I asked them to give my refund they said okay but in app they mentioned we replaced with other order and I lost 40 dollers.

2 nd time I ordered again two pulao but then send two jeera rices. I lost my money again.

My humble request if you guys don’t know how to run business and how to satisfy customers just close your business

I ordered food from this place and, for the third time, they still managed to give me the wrong item. Instead of taking responsibility, they had the nerve to call me and claim that I ordered the wrong food ( not they gave me the wrong) — twice. The staff was rude, and the manager clearly has no idea how to speak to customers or handle a simple complaint professionally.

I live 25 miles away, so dealing with their repeated mistakes is beyond frustrating. On top of that, they add extra charges for debit card payments, and when I asked for an explanation, they casually brushed it off by saying it’s a “franchise charge” and not the restaurant’s problem — which makes absolutely no sense. Overall, terrible service and zero accountability.

We ordered from here recently and were very disappointed. The food was extremely oily and heavy. It did not taste fresh and the flavors were not balanced. We could not finish most of it. For the price we paid, the quality should be much better. I hope they improve their food preparation and reduce the oil

We ordered fish starter, chicken sambar rice and ulavacharu mutton biryani. The fish starter was tasty. I was very dissapointed with chicken sambar rice- it was salty and the flavor was way too strong. Ulavacharu mutton was okay as well. The ambience was decent.

Starts with one liner “costly deal, lot of waiting, but tasty”
Review from 5th visit: Food quality getting degraded, mutton curry and pulao tastes worst than before along with few other recipes.

We ordered in one visit with veg biryani, chicken biryani and Dosa. Dosa, sambar, chutney were 8/10. Sambar was good. But biryani, no onion lemon or salad provided. The raita was smelling bad. And sambar came with biryani , instead of salan. Biryani was pretty normal. Overall Pathetic.

This review is on the unlimited thali on weekends. Its a very small spaced with huge crowd comes in for dining. A lot of waiting, because of the name Godavari. Also, the service is so poor that the staff even dont check your order till 10mins, plus another 10 mins to get the thali which would have been readily served. I used to have unlimited thali, which they serve at the table. Love the food, pulao is so good along with mutton curry. At the end the sweet and especially Paan is like perfect ending. Must try, not suggested for vegetarian thali. Alacarte is also avg.
