My 1st visit to the Butler Inn. It’s historic and interesting, and dates back a century, so the building is predominantly wood, timbers, older glass and decor.
The have a decent selection of food options. However, I felt many of these dishes and sandwiches and more, have nit changed in years. That’s fine if the food is outstanding, but my guests and I felt the veggies were not the freshest, and the food was OK, but I can’t rate it as more than average.
We had the pan fried, pecan crusted walleye. My friend is gluten-free, so the breading was eliminated. That left way too much pecans for my liking. Her veggies were steamed and basic.
My other friend had the roasted chicken. It was pretty good. They both had Cream of Asparagus Soup – which was the best dish. I tried the Shrimp Stir Fry. The veggies didn’t seem fresh. The “sauce” was 1/4 cup of Soy Sauce. Sorry – way too salty. Did they mix up the Teriyaki sauce? Eh, who knows. Yup, just 3 stars for the food.

Ordered a BLT. My stomach doesn’t feel good-maybe it’s me not the BLT (hey that rhymes) it’s standard American food. Service is excellent, price is excellent, atmosphere is quaint, friendly, and historic feeling. Will probably come back for hot cocoa again sometime.

About as Milwaukee of a stop as there is. It feels right getting a fish fry here. The place is covered in decorated wood. Feels like an upgraded cabin up north almost.

This is one of those cute little places you drive by a gazillion times, but never really pay attention. Staff was very friendly. Food was good. Prices were right. Went shortly after it opened on a Saturday and food was nice and fast. Glad we stopped to check it out. Will definitely stop by again if I’m ever in town.

On Wing special Thursday. Minimum of 6 wings per flavor, total of 12 per person.

The wings were decent. Could’ve been cooked a bit harder. Sauces were basic. The jerk bbq was really just bbq. Hot was more of a mild. Teriyaki was ok.

The deep fried ice cream was ok. I shared it with my son. We agreed it was something we wouldn’t get again or if they offered different flavor ice creams to deep fry like blue moon or cookies and cream

The Butler Inn has an amazing exterior appearance, and by the crowd, I was really expecting a great lunch. Unfortunately, the service wasn’t as good as the aura of the restaurant. I was really hoping the pizza burger would make up for the miss in service, but the mozzarella wasn’t quite what I was anticipating. I also felt my burger was cooked a little on the rare side.(I prefer medium, however they don’t ask) Given how busy the place was, everyone getting back into the swing after being locked down though, I would give them a second try.

So this place was listed as a “dive” in my colleagues’ minds.

If this is their dive, I am incredibly envious of their regular dining experiences.

This place is no dive. This place is everything I wanted from a WI full kitchen bar and more. The deep fried cheese curds were perfect (like perfect perfect). The beer was cold and the glasses colder. The bartender was delightful and just the right amount of chatty (and interesting).

It was so good that after my buddy and I went to happy hour, I ran an errand and came back for dinner.

The service was very good at home feeling from atmosphere and wait staff… food is decent not 5 star but I wouldn’t expect that from a family restaurant either! Good place to go for drinks and food!

Been a patron of this fine establishment for decades! We used to drink, eat and play pool in the back! We’d order lunch from here a couple times a week from the factory and they’d allow me to go pick it up. Made excellent tips! Food was absolutely outstanding! My family had many fish frys that were the best ever and we all enjoyed meeting here. Always fun and delicious

Wings were ok, we love wings everywhere we go so we had a lot to compare it to and they were ok, sauces were delicious, we had honey garlic, Kentucky bourbon, buffalo, the wings however were ok. Service was top notch at the bar, bartender was friendly on top of everything and connected with all her guests and atmosphere was great to watch a game from the bar or sit at a table for dinner, very inviting location, I may try a different food next time.
