The one-size pizza concept works nicely, with plenty of options across classic tomato-based sauces, no sauce pizzas, European-style toppings, as well as vegetarian and vegan choices. The gnocchi is hearty and satisfying, and everything is well flavoured without trying too hard to be flashy.
Service is friendly and relaxed, making it an easy place to drop in for a casual meal. While it doesn’t replace my much-loved local Murano Italian, it’s a solid option when I’m in the area and want something familiar, tasty, and unfussy.
For the mains, the homemade potato gnocchi was a standout! Softest gnocchi with a melt-in-your-mouth texture. The carbonara was another highlight, rich and perfectly balanced just like in Italy! I also tried the truffle, mushroom, and prosciutto pizza, cooked in a wood fired oven. The crust was super light, and the toppings worked so well together. (There’s heaps of pizza options to choose from!)
We finished with tiramisu: both the classic and the salted caramel. The layers of thick mascarpone and beautifully soaked ladyfingers made it the perfect sweet ending.
La Bufala is ideal for a shared dining experience so you can taste a bit of everything on the menu. Highly recommend!
Stand out for me personally was the arancini. The pizza was pretty lacklustre. The gnocchi was alright though.
Expect to spend around $40-50 per person if you’re going to be ordering one main and one entree. Plus more for drinks.
Meatball and Gnocchi pesto is quite bland. The flavours of tomato, basil, nuts does not stand out in the sauces.
Pizza and chilli oil is the winner. The pizza dough has really nice texture.
The gnocchi was also really good. The dumplings were soft and fluffy, not heavy like some places make them, and the sauce paired perfectly with it. Everything tasted fresh and properly made.
Overall the food felt really authentic and high quality. Definitely a 10/10 experience and I’d happily come back again.
I also loved that the carbonara is made the proper way with no cream**, just like it should be in Italy. It’s great seeing a restaurant stick to authentic recipes instead of changing them.
