The avocado toast was the highlight for me — fresh, perfectly seasoned, and generously portioned. The avocado tasted ripe and clean, not bland or overly mashed, and the bread had a nice texture that held everything together. Paired with their Americano, it was a perfect combo — smooth, balanced coffee that didn’t overpower the food.
The smoked salmon tartine was also excellent. The salmon was fresh and silky, with capers, radish, and herbs adding just the right amount of acidity and crunch. Very well balanced and satisfying without feeling heavy.
The French toast was rich and comforting, slightly crisp on the outside and soft inside. Not overly sweet, which I really appreciated, and the toppings complemented it well rather than overwhelming it.
The fruit bowl tasted genuinely fresh — good quality fruits, nicely cut, and refreshing alongside the heavier dishes.
I really like this cafe! Great decor, ample spaces, friendly people, great coffees and teas and we had a delicious warm chocolate cookie too. I would want to especially thank Matty, our server. He was just great – full of energy and enthusiasm and most friendly and helpful! I would highly recommend this cafe.
Prompt service, casual vibe. Located right near NYU and Washington Square Park.
There is seating in sheltered booths on the pavement outside the cafe and there was a light, open, airy feel inside where we sat as they had the large folding glass doors open onto the street.
My wife had the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and a side salad from their brunch menu, which looked and tasted amazing. I had the lunch combo of a delicious creamy chestnut & mushroom soup with a fantastic ham & Swiss cheese tartine with frisee lettuce, slice apples with lemon juice, honey & djon mustard.
The food was delcious and we had a pot of English Breakfast tea with our food. We were served by a very friendly & enthusiastic young waiter in a lovely setting in the beautiful Greenwich Village neighborhood & the total bill of $56 was good value
He welcomed me into the Tartinery family immediately, as my shirt had stripes just like theirs. Although, this wasn’t my first time meeting him. Just last week, he saved my dog from a burning building, walked my granny across the street, and single-handedly shoveled every driveway and sidewalk in SoHo out of the kindness of his heart. He is a standup guy and a great employee.
If you’re Matty’s boss reading this, just know if he’s late, he’s probably out shaking hands and kissing babies.
A special shoutout to our waiter, Max, who truly elevated the experience. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind, making us feel welcomed from start to finish. Service like that really makes a difference.
The only small downside for me was the music. While the space itself is very cozy, the playlist leaned a bit corporate and didn’t quite match the atmosphere. I think vinyls or a more curated, analog-style soundtrack would perfectly complement the vibe.
Overall, a wonderful experience and a place I’d happily return to, especially for the service. Highly recommend!
