Tried avocado toast, smoked salmon tartine, French toast, fruit bowl, Americano, and hot chocolate, and honestly everything was really well done.

The avocado toast was the highlight for me — fresh, perfectly seasoned, and generously portioned. The avocado tasted ripe and clean, not bland or overly mashed, and the bread had a nice texture that held everything together. Paired with their Americano, it was a perfect combo — smooth, balanced coffee that didn’t overpower the food.

The smoked salmon tartine was also excellent. The salmon was fresh and silky, with capers, radish, and herbs adding just the right amount of acidity and crunch. Very well balanced and satisfying without feeling heavy.

The French toast was rich and comforting, slightly crisp on the outside and soft inside. Not overly sweet, which I really appreciated, and the toppings complemented it well rather than overwhelming it.

The fruit bowl tasted genuinely fresh — good quality fruits, nicely cut, and refreshing alongside the heavier dishes.

A great cafe near NYU!

I really like this cafe! Great decor, ample spaces, friendly people, great coffees and teas and we had a delicious warm chocolate cookie too. I would want to especially thank Matty, our server. He was just great – full of energy and enthusiasm and most friendly and helpful! I would highly recommend this cafe.

I stumbled upon this brunch place on Google Maps and came because it was well-rated. Indeed, the quality of the food and service are great. I ordered an eggs benedict with salmon, and it was very flavorful. For those with a bigger appetite, this dish might be a bit small because the bread itself is flatter. But it is very much worth it. I spent $19 + $4.50 for the addition of salmon.

Great menu. Tasty but not heavy. Delicious loaded omelette, fresh smoked salmon, delicious juices and coffee.

Prompt service, casual vibe. Located right near NYU and Washington Square Park.

I found the excellent Tartinery cafe bar on a Google search of places for lunch in Greenwich Village as we were planning to explore the area and nearby Washington Park Square.
There is seating in sheltered booths on the pavement outside the cafe and there was a light, open, airy feel inside where we sat as they had the large folding glass doors open onto the street.
My wife had the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and a side salad from their brunch menu, which looked and tasted amazing. I had the lunch combo of a delicious creamy chestnut & mushroom soup with a fantastic ham & Swiss cheese tartine with frisee lettuce, slice apples with lemon juice, honey & djon mustard.
The food was delcious and we had a pot of English Breakfast tea with our food. We were served by a very friendly & enthusiastic young waiter in a lovely setting in the beautiful Greenwich Village neighborhood & the total bill of $56 was good value

the tartine was good got the club one but the french toast was not what was expected (not fluffy seems like they used sourdough bread or smth idk) and had moldy raspberries initially. they did correct the moldy raspberries and gave use good ones !

We came in for breakfast but it wasn’t just the food that made us give this place five stars. It was Matty’s service, warm heart, big smile, and jovial personality.

He welcomed me into the Tartinery family immediately, as my shirt had stripes just like theirs. Although, this wasn’t my first time meeting him. Just last week, he saved my dog from a burning building, walked my granny across the street, and single-handedly shoveled every driveway and sidewalk in SoHo out of the kindness of his heart. He is a standup guy and a great employee.

If you’re Matty’s boss reading this, just know if he’s late, he’s probably out shaking hands and kissing babies.

Had a good experience here! It was a hot day in New York, and we were looking for a cool, cozy spot for brunch. The place was busy but welcoming. The staff were friendly and attentive. The coffee was just okay, but the brunch was delicious, and the portions were satisfying. We enjoyed our time. We appreciated the service. We’d consider returning. Overall, a nice spot to escape the heat and relax over a meal.

Tartinery in Greenwich Village was such a charming place to spend time, warm, inviting, and full of that classic neighborhood café feel. The food was thoughtfully prepared and absolutely delicious, making it a great spot for both a casual bite or a relaxed meal.
A special shoutout to our waiter, Max, who truly elevated the experience. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind, making us feel welcomed from start to finish. Service like that really makes a difference.
The only small downside for me was the music. While the space itself is very cozy, the playlist leaned a bit corporate and didn’t quite match the atmosphere. I think vinyls or a more curated, analog-style soundtrack would perfectly complement the vibe.
Overall, a wonderful experience and a place I’d happily return to, especially for the service. Highly recommend!
