First time visiting, food lovely and good portions. The young girl who served us was so friendly and nice. I only gave 4 stars for atmosphere as I visited at 12 30pm lunch time and had just opened

POV :- If your chefs need training i am happy to train them
Ordered from Ashoka Restaurant on other branch via Deliveroo — two chapatti, paneer korma, and Kashmiri pulao.

They took ONE FULL HOUR just to prepare the food. No apology, no explanation, just slow and careless service.

The Kashmiri pulao was a complete scam. Plain rice with 2–3 tiny pieces of fruit and nothing else. That’s not Kashmiri pulao. Not even close. It didn’t match their own menu description.

I am Indian and I know exactly how Kashmiri pulao looks and tastes. This was fake, lazy cooking and straight-up misleading.

I called the restaurant and spoke to a guy with a clear Indian accent who claimed his name was “Daniel”. He didn’t even say sorry. Just said, “we make it like this.” That alone tells you how little they care.

This place is defaming Indian cuisine by serving rubbish and calling it authentic. If you don’t know how to cook Indian food properly, don’t sell it.

Total waste of money and time. Overpriced, inauthentic, and dishonest.
Avoid this place completely.

We recently went to Ashoka in Ashton Lane for a little new year treat on a winters evening. The food was fabulous and our server Saisha was super. Highly recommend!

I was in Ashoka yesterday and had such a lovely experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely amazing. Excellent flavours, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care.

The ambience of the restaurant really stood out as well: cosy, relaxed, and perfect for enjoying a meal without feeling rushed.

A special mention to Roy, who took great care of us. She was friendly, helpful, and welcoming; making the whole experience even better with her great attitude and attentiveness.

Overall, a fantastic visit and I’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend to anyone looking for great food and excellent service in a brilliant setting.

Four mains ordered, four largely unfinished including one returned to the kitchen. The King Prawns were very likely frozen, abominable for the price. Regardless, they were tasteless and rubbery at £18.95 for a madras dish. Curry portions are not generous. Naans and rice £4+ each. A rice “serves two” but only because one person won’t want it all. Veg in vegetable rice was poor, especially the mushrooms, which were tough. Chopped green beans were overcooked and too soft. Overall, the rice itself was comparable to ‘Ben’s’ Rice (just 3+ × its price, so Ben’s is far superior). The King Prawns were hard to cut with a knife and fork and were inedible when they cooled to room temp. Having them heated would have dried them out more. Beautiful animals lives were wasted, therefore, and this is unforgivable. The curries likely use curry powder as opposed to spice derived from fresh ingredients. Desi jalfrezi was creamy despite there being a ‘creamy’ jalfrezi on the menu. In fairness, this was removed from the bill, however, my friend’s appetite was ruined and they didn’t want anything else from the kitchen given the low quality of the other meals. Decent naan: tasty but tough. Good/ excellent pakora. Bombay potatoes 30% eaten between four. Beer is not cheap at £6.25 for a pint of cobra, also

The team gave us the ‘cold shoulder’ and minimum service once they realised we weren’t enjoying the food (because our plates were stacked). We chose not to complain as there was too much to complain about. A terrific ploy if intentional (surely not, I jest). I’d had multiple good experiences here years ago but the standard of the food was very poor, especially given the cost of this place, during a visit on a friday night. Standards appear to have dropped all around food wise; servers are always diligent.

None of the four in my group will be returning and I suggest you don’t visit this place if it’s busy. I had qualms about paying our bill in full and the server laughed in my face when my friend’s payment went through as I questioned their doing so. The team know they got away with charging a premium for substandard goods on this occasion, as evidenced by their pitifully thanking us on the way out despite having forked over £140+ (no eye contact made with me as they overheard some of my complaints to my table).

I wouldn’t have left this review had they been more appreciative of our custom, but this made it feel like we are commodities and I cannot abide this.

A (very) premium price was paid for a very poor experience. Four entered, four left highly disappointed.

Get yourself a takeaway instead for 1/3rd the price; you’ll get to eat it all and have far more left in the kitty for tomorrow whilst having supported a (likely more) appreciative business.

Ashoka’s sound reputation used to breed excellence. Given this multifaceted disappointment, I feel it now breeds arrogance.

I recently dined at Ashoka and was thoroughly impressed by the experience. I ordered the Ashoka Chicken Curry, which was absolutely amazing—rich, flavourful, and perfectly spiced. The balance of taste and aroma made every bite a delight.

The presentation of the dish was inviting, and the service complemented the food beautifully. I left feeling completely satisfied with both the quality of the meal and the warm atmosphere of the restaurant.

Overall, I would give Ashoka a well-deserved 5 out of 5. Highly recommended for anyone seeking authentic and delicious cuisine.

This has quickly become our favourite place to eat. My daughter and I make a special visit here now every time we head into Glasgow. The food is absolutely top notch and SO much choice for vegans, in fact our server specifically asked me if I wanted vegan chicken, vegetable or tofu when I ordered the amazing Ceylonese Korma, blown away!! The service is also amazing with the servers being very knowledgeable of the menu and are always on hand when you need something, but not continually floating around you, which means you can really enjoy your meal. Our favourites are the aforementioned korma and the mushroom bhaji (forgive my spelling) The pakoras are beautiful too and portions are really big. Amazing place to eat

A beautiful Indian restaurant in the west, tucked away down Ashton Lane!

We started the night with crispy, light popadoms and a perfect spiced onion to accompany, then a mixed pakora platter (first time tasting haggis pakora and it was a favourite), as well as a chicken masala poori (YUM – the masala was a perfect mix of sweet and spicy).

For our mains, we selected the crowd-pleasing Chasni (perfectly creamy, tangy and sweet) and we tried the spicy lamb jaipuri, which turned out to be our favourite of the two, with a flavour that packed a punch!

Great atmosphere, warm decor and top-notch service from the wait staff. We will be back!
