TO LIVE AND FRY IN L.A. In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept — take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw — they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.

I have been to many Dave’s Hot Chicken in California where I’m from, and I have never met a team member like Shamia before. She was very patient with our dumb-seeming questions about the menu and gave us overall a really good experience. She truly deserves a raise for how personable and friendly she was. The food was fire as always.

I want to give a HUGE shout-out to Shamia at the Dave’s Hot Chicken in Braintree. I don’t normally leave reviews, but the level of customer service I got from him today deserves one.
From the second I walked in, he was genuinely upbeat, welcoming, and made the entire experience feel way more personal than a typical fast-casual place. You could tell right away that he not only enjoys what he does, but he takes pride in making sure guests have an awesome time there. He helped explain the menu, gave a couple recommendations based on spice level, and made sure everything came out exactly how I ordered it.
What really stood out is that he wasn’t just going through the motions — he actually cares. He checked in to make sure the food was great, was quick to help other customers with the same energy and attitude, and you could see he’s someone who makes the whole store run smoother just by being so on top of things. Even when the line started picking up, he kept everything friendly, organized, and upbeat.
It’s honestly rare these days to come across customer service that feels this positive and genuine. Travis is the type of employee every business wishes they had — hardworking, personable, professional, and clearly someone who goes above and beyond. If Dave’s Hot Chicken is reading this: he’s a huge asset to your Braintree location.
I’ll definitely be coming back to this spot specifically because of the great experience he created.

The young girl who was working the night of 1/31/26 around 930 pm was an absolute delight. She greeted me with a smile and hello before I even got to the counter. I ordered ahead so when I received the food she made sure I had everything I needed before I left. Food was hot and as always very good.

NOT GOOD. chicken was dry and overcooked. Was at Dave’s 6 months ago and it was great. What happened? I hope this was just a bad night but something tells me this place is going down hill. Just like most chains when they get established. Also what’s with all the fake 5 star reviews. It should be criminal to post fake reviews for your business.

I tried Dave’s Hot Chicken today, and I loved how crispy and flavorful the chicken was. The spice level I picked was just right; enough kick without being overwhelming. The fries were tasty and a perfect side. Overall, it was a satisfying and spicy meal that I’d definitely get again!
