I’ve been to several Melting Pot locations, and while I understand this was Valentine’s Day and they were extremely busy, the service was pretty rough. We repeatedly had to remind staff about items missing from our order when it arrived at the table, including allergy substitutions. Dirty dishes would sit for a long time, leaving barely any room between courses. At times, it was at least an hour before we moved to the next course. During that time, we were completely finished and just sitting with dirty plates, including raw meat remnants, still on the table. We were a party of 9.

In total, we were there for over four and a half hours and left immediately after finishing dessert. The length of our visit wasn’t because we wanted to linger; it simply took that long to get through the process. At other locations, I would expect the full experience to take around two hours maximum. I understand it was a busy holiday, but perhaps better staffing or preparation was needed, because it ended up being a very long experience.
The food quality when we did get the correct items was great and atmosphere/decor was very cozy inside.

The following day, we visited a location in Colorado and had a completely different experience with phenomenal service.

Unfortunately, this place felt very overrated and not worth the price on our recent visit. The food quality was underwhelming, especially compared to how we remembered it from previous trips when the dining experience felt much more special and memorable.

The atmosphere also felt dated and tired, lacking the charm we had expected. Service was adequate, but we did feel rushed throughout the meal, which took away from what should have been a relaxed dining experience.

We dined as two couples, and the bill was shockingly high given the small portions and overall quality of the food. To make matters worse, when the check was presented, the tip was pre-set to 25%. I also caught an additional 5% fee added to the bill. The fee was explained as a “cost of living” increase, which felt misleading and unnecessary — especially given the already high prices. It essentially amounted to an extra charge that was not clearly disclosed upfront.

For the amount paid (over $400 bucks and we brought our own bottle of wine), we expected a far more elevated and transparent experience. Sadly, this visit did not live up to past memories or the restaurant’s reputation.

We all decided this would be our last trip, as we would rather hold on to the good ol’ day memories and give a new location a chance to eat our future business.

We have no issues paying top dollar for rewarding dining experiences, this simply was not one of them.

Note: Both of our waiters were great and had deep knowledge of the menu, we want to make it clear we appreciated the service.

Went here last night with a few friends and sat in the private room near the entrance. Ambiance seemed nice, though we didn’t walk through the whole restaurant.
Service was the highlight. Our server, Joey, was fantastic—friendly, attentive, and honestly the main reason the night held together.
Food was disappointing overall. The cheese board was fine but could’ve been smoother, and the bread was dry and stale. The strawberry salad was overly sweet from too much syrup.
The mains were the biggest letdown. While unlimited, the meats took a long time to cook, were mostly unseasoned, and arrived raw on a single platter (salmon, shrimp, beef, chicken all touching). Putting raw meats into a shared pot with nearly cooked items felt unsanitary. The “petite filet” looked like basic stew meat and wasn’t tender at all. For $79, this was extremely underwhelming.
Dessert was the best part, but even then the sides tasted store-bought—waffles, brownies, blondies, marshmallows all felt like a Costco assortment cut into pieces.
$79 before tax and tip for bland meat, dry sides, and mediocre desserts is hard to justify. Hot pot elsewhere is far cheaper and much more flavorful. The birthday guest had fun, which is what matters—but I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Had such a great experience at The Melting Pot in Gaslamp! From start to finish, everything was excellent. The atmosphere was cozy and fun, perfect for a Valentine’s Day date.

Our waiter, Devon, was absolutely fantastic — attentive, friendly, and genuinely made the experience feel special. The manager on duty was also wonderful and very welcoming. You can tell the team truly cares about customer service.

Food, service, and overall vibe were all top-tier. Highly recommend for date brunches, nights or a fun group dinner. We’ll definitely be back!

Meh overall experience last night with our group of 8. First time for most of us here and I had made a reservation via Open Table. Really cool historic building (former bank) spread across 2 floors. Food itself was all great, especially the dessert (and I am generally not a fan of sweets). Service was ok, but the waiter kept just repeating his standard pitch as quick as possible. Menu options are way too complex and not explained well — highly recommend reviewing in advance. We had 3 kids with us and it was well over an hour before they had any real food. 1 person had some dietary restrictions (gluten and garlic free), but that meant I got the same (I hate gluten free bread). There was also confusion by the waiter about how many burners were on each table (long story). The 2 other groups next to us were both celebrating birthdays, so they seem to cater to special occasions, rather than family dining. I would probably not take kids back and still only go with adults if you are prepared for a 3 hour tour. Just very different than what I expected, but like I said, the food and the cooking it yourself experience was really neat.

We had such a good time. Place looks really nice dark interior in a building constructed in 1913 in great shape.
We started with the Alpine cheese, fondue, followed by salad, and then the dark chocolate.
Amazing taste, loved the cheese. Charles was our waiter and you did an amazing job.
We’re gonna go there every other month for our date night!

Our overall experience was not good, and we would not go back. We were on the second floor in a very small booth that was very enclosed. While it might be considered an intimate dining experience for some, we found it to be warm and uncomfortable, especially with the steaming fondue pots. The service was decent and so was the food, but not excellent. It wouldn’t be enough to bring us back in the future.

The Melting Pot is an absolute gem! The food is consistently fantastic, and the multi-course fondue experience is always a treat. I’m pretty sure I could eat melted cheese for every meal and be perfectly happy. But what really stands out is the flawless service. The staff is welcoming, attentive, and makes the entire meal feel special.

We come to The Melting Pot every time we’re in San Diego and it never misses.
This time we kept it simple and perfect: two cheese fondues plus salads for two, and it was more than satisfying. Cozy, indulgent, and exactly what we were craving.

It’s one of those places that feels like a little ritual. Warm, fun, and ideal for slowing down and enjoying the moment. If you’re into good food, good vibes, and sharing plates, this spot is always a yes ✨

Enjoyed a celebration package with our group of friends! Experience was amazing from the moment we arrived with Valet Parking.
All courses were delicious as anticipated! Our waiters were fantastic!!! Totally accommodating to allergies, dietary needs, and our extra requests.

From the moment we entered the private party room it was fantastic. Balloons and Roses adorned the table for our besties birthday celebration. Food was so delicious and timely we forgot to take pictures of the salads, and entree but it was seriously such a great time! Never a dull moment between courses.

Devin was our waiter and he was ABSOLUTELY amazing! We even requested a photo with him!

(We also had another amazing waiter, but I forgot to ask his name. ‍♀️ )

Can’t wait to visit again!
