We visited Mita’s during our late fall visit to Cincinnati. Considering that the restaurant is downtown, the logistics are easy, with valet available on-site plus multiple public parking garages and lots in the immediate area.

Mita’s is a tapas-style restaurant, a dining concept I’ve really enjoyed ever since being introduced to it at Jose Andres’ places. It’s the perfect way to eat because it offers the opportunity to sample a wide variety of flavors in one sitting.

The restaurant’s atmosphere is stunning—high ceilings, beautiful tile work, and a chic, upscale vibe that still feels very warm and inviting. It’s the perfect setting for a special night out.

The service matched the atmosphere; our server was patient and attentive, taking the time to explain the menu and to answer questions. We never felt rushed. The pace of the food was on point, so we could actually enjoy each dish as it arrived. Everything we tasted was incredibly fresh and well-prepared.

We started with cocktails and a cheese platter, followed by Tostones y Guacamole, Patatas Bravas, and Empanadas De Res Con Pique. The Bocadillos De Hamburguesa and the Salmón Real Salvaje were also standouts.
While the portions are quite good for tapas, make sure to save room for dessert. We tried the Pastel de Tres Leches and the Pastel de Almendras. Both were outstanding, though they are definitely shareable—one would have been plenty for two people, but we couldn’t resist trying both!

Overall, it was a flawless dining experience from start to finish.

Mita’s is one of my favorite restaurants in downtown Cincinnati. I like the flexibility of ordering small plates (tapas), rather than a big entree. We arrived at 4pm and sat in the lounge on a Saturday night. We started with a trio of cheeses which was heavenly. Next the seasonal winter salad, followed by their grass-fed sliders (hubby’s favorite). We shared dishes to save room for the Tres Leches cake. This dessert comes in a nice size bowl with a sponge cake in the center surrounded by heavenly milks, caramel and rum. Our server Sophia was warm and friendly and so helpful in describing the dishes. We own Riverside Food Tours and partner with Mita’s when hosting large corporate food tours. Caroline, always makes sure everything goes smoothly. What more could you ask for!

We had a great experience. Food was on point (we tried a few cheeses, the plantains with guacamole, shrimp ceviche and spanish octopus). Drinks were great as well. Special shout-out to our server, Grace, who gave wonderful recommendations and coursed it out perfectly. We will definitely be back!

I’ve heard about of good things about Mita’s and was happy to finally have the chance to try it out. The food was super tasty with great flavors and portion sizes. We ordered the plantains & guac (my fave dish), tomato bruschetta, octopus, tacos, and potatoes. Everything was fantastic and the service was great. Would definitely come back!

It was the second time we visited the restaurant, the last time was a few years back, and we were just waiting for the opportunity to go back. The atmosphere and service were excellent. The food and drinks were amazing, it’s one of these places that you want to get everything from the menu :). Some of the dishes remindes me my mom’s cooking. We are looking forward for the next time we will have a chance to dine there.

This is probably one of my favorite places to eat in Cincinnati. The atmosphere is perfect for chatting with whoever you with. The food has an amazing attention both in composition and plating. And the drink selection is wonderful, even for those that don’t consume alcohol. Honestly, can’t wait to go back!

Place- 5/5 – place was huge, decors were really nice.
Service – 2.5/5 -server was okay. Wish they would have been more engaging in terms of the menu since majority of us were new to the place.
Food-2.5/5
If you’ve been to Spain for tapas, this will be underwhelming for you. You pay for the james bean recognition but not for the quality of food. Proportion wise, flavor wise, nothing really special. They would recommend getting 2-3 ( cause imagine 8 people getting that is like 16-24 tapas) tapas per person which I guess ruins the experience of tapas which they emphasize in their menu- for sharing. Need to look on their portion and price. I guess I’ve expected more from a price standpoint. They serve tapas one after the other. Like again, how can you share when you serve tapas one by one (at least 20 minutes gap for each tapas). That paella is burnt. Not crispy underneath, but burnt and you wait for almost an hour to have that. The servers can be more enthusiastic i guess? They’re overselling too much asking you to get tapas but they can’t even explain to you what they’re serving. They might want to add portion size description for the aperitivos on the menu to help the customers better next time (cause let’s be honest, not all servers will go the extra mile). But the dessert menu is the best menu out of everything. Overall, it’s okay but not top tier considering the money you spent. I’m sure there are other tapas places you can get a better experience and price wise.

Recommend making a reservation. Go to spot for anniversary and special occasions. I’m not a fan of margaritas but Mitas margaritas are top notch! Pork belly tacos are heaven. Always go for the bread with romesco, shishito peppers, hamburguesas, and tostones and guac. Favorite restaurant in the area!

Juan was excellent. Very friendly and knowledgeable.

We made the mistake of not being very hungry, because everything was incredible and we wish we were able to try more.

We tried the white sangria, tostones y guacamole, jamón serrano, patatas bravas, and tacos de lengua. The tostones and tacos were my two favorites. Their flavors were well balanced and comforting.

Overall it was a very nice experience and it makes senses that they are a James Beard nominated restaurant.

Mita’s came very well recommended and it did not disappoint at all. Food, service, atmosphere all amazing. Especially recommend the ceviche, cabbage, and chicken skewers…but every dish we had was delicious. They also are extremely good with timing of dishes….never felt rushed….but also never sat hungry, everything was brought out in perfect timing.

Also, we got one of the later reservations (8:15) because that was all that was left two weeks out — but we really enjoyed that hour. When we arrived the room was a buzz with energy, and by the end it was slowing down and relaxing.
