The Hofbrau Steakhouse In Austin Started a tradition that has pleased many a palate across the state of Texas for over fifty years. Although not affiliated, each Hofbrau Steakhouse has a similar atmosphere and menu based on the successful Hill Country recipe. First time here, I’m always on the hunt for chicken fried steaks in different Texas towns. Definitely 2 thumbs up for this place! First off, the hot rolls melt in your mouth with that sweet butter. The chicken fried steak was very flavorful. I liked that the crust does not crumble off the steak when you’re cutting thru it, the texture and crunch was spot on. The mashed potatoes and brown gravy was well seasoned and was by far the best I’ve had ever. The fried okra was perfectly fried, not greasy at all, and again, lots of flavor. The wait staff was very welcoming. Chatted with Logan for a bit and he was very kind. I told him the mashed potatoes and brown gravy made me do a little happy dance in my seat! The place is super cozy and the restrooms were extra clean! You have GOT to stop by!

We had the 8 ounce pork chop and my wife had the elevated grilled cheese. We had an appetizer of a Boudin ball and we had cornbread with brisket in it. We had peach cheesecake and carrot cake for dessert and it was all very very good. Our server was outstanding. So thanks Jordan!

Jessica is an amazing bartender. The facility is clean, great vibe, and stellar food. It was exactly what I needed to restore my faith in the restaurant business. Well done, Hofbrau. You have a new customer for life!

Hofbrau’s was amazing. I can’t tell you the last time I went to a restaurant and had a meal with quality and intention.
CFC was crispy and flavorful and the gravy, too. Rich and flavorful- not some soulless gloop on a plate.
The chocolate cake was incredible. It was served slightly chilled and was some of the best I’ve ever had.
We also enjoyed the mozzarella sticks and house rolls. I can’t wait to come back.
Thank you Hofbrau’s for restoring my faith that real-deal restaurants are alive and well.

Everything was so amazing! There was no long wait time, everything came out quick and fresh. Our waiter George was excellent and very attentive. Definitely will be going back again soon.

As a former waitress , i pay attention to how my servers work and can i just say …Everything was awesome, i got the fried catfish and i have never been served a filet that big. My server was lynn and she was absolutely amazing. The customer service of everyone here was really amazing. I never had to ask for anything. I will definitely be back. I pray this place never goes out of business. Eat here!!!!

We came on a Friday evening after passing by it going shopping. We decided to try it out and man am I glad we did! It’s definitely gonna be our new steak place! Logan (our waiter) was PHENOMENAL! Very attentive and took THE BEST care of us. Then the food came out and WOW! So good. Melt in your mouth steak and the sides were delicious too! Definitely coming back and you need to try it if you haven’t yet!!

Those boudin balls are bangers. The poor lady had our 6 top and evidently another area. She expressed apologies they were extremely short staffed. We got there about noon-thirty. We ordered an appetizer the boudin balls.
I also had a French dip(4/5) and fries. It had an amazing au jus sauce. The stock was hearty snd and the mixture wasn’t over powered by coffee as you will sometimes get at other places. My wife had the grilled chicken(4/5). It was juicy, gently seared. Next my mom aunt and cousin all got the shrimp baskets, no complaints they were fluffy and tender with a slight crispy crunch in each bite. Very good sized pieces. The waitress was doing her best . We waited a good 30 minutes for her to come get our order after she had gotten our drinks. And when the food came out there were several thing wrong, no hush puppies, and the side item for my wife she messed up. Even with the hour sit down I had great company and we laughed it off and enjoyed our extra time together. I will be back next time I get down to Texas.
