The ultimate French Toast sandwich AND ultimate cinnamon roll.
The item I wanted wasn’t on the menu and because the breakfast rush was over, they happily agreed that they could make a Monte Cristo breakfast sandwich. The sandwich was a masterpiece but their cinnamon roll is truly unmatched in CT. Their cinnamon roll or honey bun is true to form because it’s coated with icing and has a soft dough interior. It is not a hybrid croissant cinnamon roll.
Most times, you have to decide between only getting one at the same breakfast place:
Food satisfaction and an average store bought baked good OR vice versa, never both. But, Uncle D’s Diner put an end to that theory. Look at the cinnamon roll pictures and analyze the size etc. Now you can let your imagination run freely as you can have an idea of the top tier quality of food they make and serve.
Wait staff has a mastery level skill at making everyone that enters the doors to feel comfortable and appreciated.
Ps.
It is rare to find a breakfast place that serves quality food and also makes its own baked goods like Uncle D’s Diner. Plus they open at 6am.
I inquired about the CBH (Corned beef hash) and the pleasant waitress stated it was homemade. Great! I’ll have it. Standard order comes with homefries, two fried eggs (over well, break the yolk) and toast (whole wheat). I also ordered hot coffee. The order arrived within ten minutes and everything was piping hot-GREAT. Sampling the fresh, seasoned, slightly crispy CBH, it was too salty. Another bite and it was confirmed. Trying the homefries and recognizing they were salt deprived-so I cut up the potatoes and mixed them with the CBH. Good job. The CBH did have small diced potatoes mixed in but if there were no homefries-I would have definitely sent it back. Coffee was delicious and piping hot (love this-hot food should be served hot and cold food served cold!) The CBH was a huge portion as well as the homefries. W/W toast was toasted…and buttered.
This diner is a nice sized diner, kinda old school, retro decor with very friendly staff. I paid $13.99 for the CBH and $3.49 for coffee and with tip and tax came to $23 49.
I will rate the CBH: 2.00 stars out of 5 stars and the same for the homefries (just because of the saltiness of the CBH and the plain, salt deprived homefries)
My overall experience was a 4.00 stars out of 5.00 stars. When the cashier asked about the meal- I explained to her about the saltiness and she immediately went to investigate; “hey, were there any other complaints about the Corned beef hash”, we’ve got to taste that hash right away”. She stated to the wait staff as went into the kitchen with further inquiries. I REALLY APPRECIATE THAT.
THANKS FOR BEING KIND TO ME!

The food taste clean and so good !
The sausages were tender and filled with so much flavor. Waffles a nice size. And cooked just so. Cut into 4 sections. The Blt was perfect. Not too much of one thing over another. I got the rye bread. The size of 2 BLTs ! Please go try at least just once. OH, one thing to mention, you have to drive around to the back of the building in order to see it.
Went for breakfast with my wife and my father-in-law, and I can’t say enough of the food and service. Everyone’s happ there, it’s another level of atmosphere and the train going around is so nice!
I had promised to get my wife there sometime to show her how awesome this place was. Luckily, my father-in-law was visiting us, and I invited him too, and he was also happy with it. If you ever want to have great food and feel happy and satisfying your day, here it is, Uncle D’s Diner, the best place in town!
Once again, thank you for an amazing Sunday morning!!!
But let’s talk breakfast. The coffee is like a warm hug from grandma, and the breakfast sandwiches are the perfect start to your day. The bread is soft and warm, and the flavors are spot-on. But what really sets Uncle D’s apart is the friendly and welcoming staff. They treat you like family, and chatting with them is like catching up with your favorite aunt or sister.
So if you’re looking for a great diner experience with delicious food and friendly service, look no further than Uncle D’s Diner in Berlin. It’s a true hidden gem that you won’t want to miss out on.
