Highly recommended. This was such a surprise to find such a proper Japanese restaurant in the heart of old town. I don’t travel so often to Edinburgh so don’t know places to eat aside of fast food. Definitely returning there. Staff was lovely, the place is so cute and comfortable. I ordered a salmon teriyaki dish with such sweet delicate salmon and the crisp grilled spring onion on top of great Japanese rice. It comes with miso soup, which I wished they sold pint versions to go. They were also so so good. Sorry for not having the best pictures, btw.

Our food was amazing! Got the black tonkotsu pork belly ramen (added bok choy), edamame, and a sweet yozu sake recommended by our wonderful waitress, Manisha! Service and food were both fantastic. Will come again!!

It is the best ramen I’ve ever ever had. The broth is rich, the meat is tasty and the noodles are perfectly cooked.

Quite possibly the best meal we have had the pleasure of eating.

Stumbled upon this gem by chance, and how fortunate we are to have done so!!
Unassuming from the front this restaurant offered us the freshest food, made to order with absolutely stunning presentation.

Welcoming of our young family and very friendly staff made this meal out relaxing from the start!

We ordered three different meals and several side dishes. All were beautifully presented and made with the freshest ingredients.

Absolutely will be back and so very happy that we found this little gem in the big city!!

Definitely recommended to all our friends for whenever they’re in town!

Mentioned by comedian Ed Gamble (Great British Menu, Off Menu podcast) as a great place to go for Japanese food.

I couldn’t agree more. Beautiful, delicious food. Polite, attentive, friendly staff. Fast service (it was quiet in there) and a warm, convivial atmosphere.

They didn’t have takoyaki (octopus), so plumped for chilli squid, which was crispy, hot and succulent. Seabass nigiri was soft and delectable. Tamago (egg) hosomaki was light and sweet. Eye-watering crisp wasabi and zingy ginger, decent warm and smooth saké and a good selection of Japanese whiskey.

Decently priced. Well worth a visit.

This is actually my third time ordering their delivery. Their prices are high and the qualities are just on the average. Average packaging and average flavours… but Yokisoba is kind of their signature dish? I don’t remember other Japanese restaurants in Edinburgh offer this. I recommend their yokisoba a little bit (just because I don’t remember other Japanese restaurant in Edinburgh offer this) and you can just find any of the rest with similar prices and the same flavours at any other Japanese restaurants in Edinburgh. Even the Yokisoba is….i guess the sourness of the noodles indicates it’s pre-made with preservatives; go taste and you will know

Great food, great price, great service, quiet especially given the location. My partner said it was the best ramen she’s ever had – I’m vegan and had veggie sushi which was also delicious!
