We came in during happy hour and were sat immediately. Wasn’t busy at all. But after about 15-20 minutes of waiting we had to ask the hostess for a waiter/waitress. No drink orders or nothing, just waiting.
Finally the waitresses comes & with about as little enthusiasm as you can imagine, she takes our order. I’m not saying be animated, but maybe show SOME delight in your job.
About 10 minutes after that we get the appetizer. 15 MORE minutes after THAT we get our food. We asked for well-done steak, it’s undercooked. Now after another 10 minutes of recooking, we’re able to eat.
A quick happy hour trip turned into about a 2 hour session, with majority of the time waiting.
When it was time to pay, though that check came out immediately…
I get being short staffed, but maybe encourage leadership to step in and help out when others aren’t willing to. Maybe provide some coaching on customer service and presentation.

He didn’t think I heard him but, I did he then took us to a table I asked him if he would have our drinks from the bar sent over when they are ready and he got a attitude about that now at this point we already been at the bar for sometime and the bar tender still have not made our drinks and act like she didn’t know how. Now I can hear and see the young man talking to the manger because after I said I would talk to the manger he went to talk to him first to cover his butt. The manger looked in our direction and turn and walked back in the kitchen, but do you think he ever came over to us to ask us if everything was OK or ask us about our service nope he didn’t because he is just as bad as the workers they don’t care the waitress she was no better when she came with the drinks my glass was cracked so she took it back to get it redone and never returned with drink until my friend asked her about it by this time we are finished eating she never came back to the table to see if we were ok or needed anything else so we just paid her and left. Don’t go at night cause it’s totally different, night service sucks and they wasn’t busy enough to say that was the cause for the service being so terrible. I will never go back. If you go only go doing the day because I only went that night because I had been there with someone else on Monday doing the day and the service was great from the time we walked through the door until the time we left, the lady who seated us was also making drinks. She had the best attitude ever she always does, and the young man who served us had the best attitude really nice and the service was great. Great job day worker
The service was prompt & pleasant, the restaurant atmosphere was quiet and welcoming & the food was made correct the first time & actually hot!!
I know that is suppose to be the norm but I appreciate that it was with no issues at this location!
When our waitress arrived, we ordered drinks, an appetizer, and our meals. Upon returning with our beverages, she held one of the cups with her hand wrapped around the mouth of the glass. She placed the drinks down without a word and walked away, providing no reassurance or basic hospitality. We sat for approximately 20 minutes without any update, acknowledgment, or check-in. Only when she happened to make eye contact did she realize our appetizer had never been brought out.
When the spinach artichoke dip finally arrived, the chips were excessively greasy, and the dip itself was flavorless with a visibly burned top. Unfortunately, the entrée experience was even worse. The food initially appeared presentable, but the very first bite revealed a stringy, worm-like substance that was completely unacceptable and immediately ruined the meal. The mashed potatoes were hard, lacked any flavor, and appeared old, as if they had been sitting for an extended period. My green beans were forgotten entirely until I reminded the server, at which point I had already decided I could not continue eating.
I informed the waitress that the food was unacceptable, and she responded with a dismissive expression and walked away without offering a solution, an apology, or the option to speak with a manager. I ultimately had to ask another employee for a manager; however, she simply walked off and never returned. I later observed her casually socializing at the bar instead of following through. When the manager eventually came to the table—after a considerable wait and despite previously being at the front of the restaurant—her response was indifferent and lacked any urgency or genuine concern.
The atmosphere throughout the restaurant was equally disappointing. The staff appeared disengaged, unmotivated, and uninterested in providing even minimal customer service. Nothing about the experience reflected a welcoming “neighborhood bar and grill.” Instead, it felt like a team going through the motions without pride, professionalism, or accountability.
When I explained to the manager that the food was inedible, she stated only, “I’ll take it off,” yet we still ended up paying over $30 for a two-for-$25 meal we could not eat. Between the poor service, unacceptable food quality, and lack of cleanliness, this was by far the worst dining experience we have ever had.
I will not be returning to this Applebee’s, and I strongly advise others to avoid the location on St. Charles Rock Road in Bridgeton. This establishment needs immediate retraining, oversight, and leadership intervention. Until significant changes are made, it should not be recommended to anyone.
