First of all, this place is pretty big. It is a large room with many tables. We went on a Sunday at around 4 PM, and it was mostly empty. We stood at the check-in desk for around 4 minutes until this older, disheveled man walked from the back of the room to us, grabbed two menus, and escorted us to our table.
The place has a good menu. We ordered the Walnut Shrimp and Mongolian Beef and asked the waiter a few questions about the duck.
They had Peking Duck at over $50.00, and some other duck offerings. One of those was a half duck for $24.00. Since there was no way we could eat a whole duck, I asked if the half duck came with the soft buns and sauces. He said the extra cost was $5.00 for 5 buns and sauces; we went with those.
The Mongolian Beef arrived 1st and it was excellent. The beef was high-quality, tender, and delicious.
Then the Walnut Shrimp arrived. This dish was also excellent, with the largest shrimp I have ever had in my many past orders. The sauce was smooth, and overall, this was a great dish.
The duck arrived with the buns. This was the most disappointing dish of the lot. It was still good, but the skin wasn’t crisp, and it was super greasy. I know duck can be greasy, but this was over-the-top, with grease pooling on the presentation dish.
So, overall, the food was very good. Now for a few observations: The decor is clearly oriental, and the staff is as well. The music they played was annoyingly too loud, and the choice of music just didn’t fit the restaurant. The music blaring inside was hip-hop rap.
They had a few TV’s as well. We were laughing because they were showing a show that had horses and donkeys on the screens; it just seemed bizarre.
So, go for the food, avoid the duck, make sure you bring earplugs, and you will enjoy your meal.
Hands down my favorite dim sum brunch spot due to its spacious and comfy interior design and way parking.
We had so many business banquets here for Asian holidays, and it always delivers great ambience and great food. The service here is efficient and attentive, everyone is friendly, especially the manger, Yan.
So many dishes I love here, sum up some must orders: Chaozhou rice soup, scallion ginger chicken, deep fried whole fish, truffle chicken, pork belly, salt and pepper pork chop, and ginseng soup etc.
You can’t go wrong with dim sum, but their egg yolk buns, beef stew, chicken feet, and sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves are scrumptious comparing to other dim sum places in town.
You can also call days ahead to preorder the live seafood, such as whole fish, lobster, crabs, abalones.
That said, the dim sum service at this restaurant is a downside. The dim sum sisters are overly aggressive in pushing their dim sum, which makes the dining experience uncomfortable. It honestly feels like they earn commission based on how much dim sum they sell.
Overall, if you’re here for outstanding beef brisket and soup, this place is absolutely worth it—but be prepared for very pushy dim sum service.
Beef chow fun: beef is super tender
Fried rice salted fish: so tasty
Sweet and sour pork: pork is tender, and the taste overrall is all good
If you like dim sum, service here is extremely fast where a cart is stopping by as soon as you are seated.
The wait people don’t really speak much English so you have to point to the things you want. Wish they would give you a picture menu when you come in. We found out later that you could pull one up on your phone. We only sort of knew which things to choose and missed a couple because we didn’t know how to ask for it. What we did have (with the exception of one dish) was very good and like we remembered from years ago.
You can generally tell if the type of restaurant you eat at is any good if the primary clientele is of the ethnic background of the type of food you are eating and this place had mostly Asian people eating there.
At any rate, if you enjoy dim sum, this is a good place to go. The prices are very reasonable and just remember to pull up a menu on your phone that you can point to so you get what you want.
