K.K.
We don’t live in Columbus and wanted to support a black owned restaurant. Unfortunately we were dissapointed. I’ll start with the atmosphere- when we arrived It was definitely busy, but we were seated immediately. there were a lot of children running round and it actually felt like we were intruding on a private party. The music was way too loud and we had to shout to hear one another. But eventually, the volume was turned down to a better level. I ordered the catfish with grits and the roasted wings with creole garlic sauce. The catfish was tasty, but the grits were basic and not creamy. The wings were moist and had a little spice but not much flavor. My friend asked if they had Pepsi or Coke products and the server said they have “cola and lemon lime and root beer” type products…I assume that means no Pepsi or Coke products. It took about an hour to get our food which is not acceptable. They could have offered a complimentary beverage or appetizer for the extended wait. The server was polite.

We’re so excited for Creole Kitchen to be open! We tried the sampler and the catfish and I’ll 20000% recommend anyone try this place out! The food was delicious, and the people super friendly. And the gumbo was SOOO GOOOOD. Our 2 year old loved it so much that she licked the whole bowl clean!

Started with the gator bites then enjoyed the gumbo – dark roux with strong flavors – delicious. Jonathan helped us out – good advice and attentive service.

Unfortunately, this didn’t live up to the old location. I came in for a simple takeout order and waited over an hour for one entree, even though it wasn’t busy. The service wasn’t great and the prices have definitely gone up. As for the food, the chicken and sausage jambalaya was very mid and lacked seasoning. I probably won’t be back.

I will go back, food’s delicious but a little pricy for the portions, especially the appetizers.

My entree was the pasta w/ chicken, I should have substituted with shrimp, wasn’t my favorite, I was contemplating ordering the Seafood pasta but it was I believe $$$$45-50,

my appetizers were delicious but small portions for the price. I had the surf n turf egg rolls and got two small egg rolls cut in half for $16. The Bang Bang shrimp was my favorite but 6 shrimp for $14.

20 percent gratuity automatically added.

I ordered the Hurricane and barely tasted any rum but flavor was good.

Parking in back but you couldn’t enter there, had to walk all the way to the front.

We arrived and were seated right away, which was a great start. There were only two other tables occupied and a few guests at the bar, so we expected a smooth dining experience.

We began with a glass of wine and an order of gator bites. The gator was cut thinner than I’m used to, but it was decent.

For entrées, I ordered the seafood Alfredo pasta, and my friend ordered the blackened catfish with red beans and rice and potato salad. I originally wanted that dish myself, but they were out of the sweet potato side.

After waiting 30 minutes, we were told there had been a mix-up and our food would take another 20 minutes. We were patient and understanding—but unfortunately, the food we finally received was not worth the wait.

Let’s start with the pasta: it had absolutely no seasoning—not even salt. The seafood was overcooked and lacked flavor, and the Alfredo sauce was extremely runny, almost like water. The only highlight on my plate was the buttered bread, which was actually delicious.

Now for the catfish: blackened catfish should have some spice, but this was overwhelmingly spicy—to the point of being inedible. The red beans and rice also had no seasoning at all. The potato salad was the only decent part of that plate.

When the host came over and asked if she could clear anything away, I told her she could take the nearly untouched plates and bring the check. She said she would send the waitress over.

The waitress came, saw that we had barely touched our food, and asked if we wanted boxes. We both said no. That was the second staff member to notice we hadn’t eaten our meals, and neither one asked if anything was wrong or offered to make it right.

Instead, she simply gave us the total and asked how we would be paying.

I have to say—I’ve never felt less valued as a customer. I come to a restaurant to enjoy a meal, and what we were served was inedible and handled with complete indifference.

Previous reviews made me wanna try it. Purchased pick up order. Styrofoam was the first red flag- hot pasta should be in a better to go container. Chicken Alfredo pasta tasted like seafood and styrofoam. Sauce was good but the chicken wasn’t seasoned. presentation was poor. I ate a few bites and tossed it. Co worker got gumbo, In styrofoam. Just not what I expected, I’m aware they just opened but presentation needs improvement. In the styrofoam portions looked small and messy.

The best catfish ever!

This was my second time at Chef Butcher’s Creole Kitchen.

We went for dinner for the first time and got catfish and chicken jambalaya, both were spicy/hot but the catfish taste soo good. I’m not a big fan of spicy food but I have to say that I couldn’t stop eating (and drinking water of course!) ; )

This time we went there for breakfast because I wanted to try french toast. (If you follow my profile, you’ll see that I try to go for french toast all the time). It was great! I have to say that the batter was awesome, the bread was cut very thick but still soaked all the batter in, super moist! Crispy bacon also my favorite 😀

My husband got catfish again, I didn’t want to try it at first because I don’t like to switch from sweet to savory and back to sweet again, but he kept pushing me to try and I wanted to say that this is the best! I can have it everyday! The breading was super crispy, the fish didn’t smell or taste any fishy at all, felt like I was eating chicken but lighter & healthier.

And another best part about the restaurant is the meal is very affordable, we spent around $25 (excluding tips) !

We love the food and and Antoinette, she’s the best! Her dad too! Will definitely go back there again and again!

Just had another great meal at Creole kitchen. It is truly the best Cajun restaurant in Columbus. Excellent crawfish, étouffée and blackened catfish. Great service in ambience too.
