This is a wonderful place to have a heart lunch on a budget. The atmosphere is homey and the service is excellent. I ordered the fried catfish plate which came with mac and cheese, buttered cornbread and fried okra. The food was delicious and for $12.99, this is much more economical than eating at a fast food joint.

Great Service, Disappointing Hygiene Standards

I’m writing this with a lot of disappointment because the food and our waitress were actually great. However, our experience took a sharp turn for the worse right before we hit the road.
The Issue:
I went to use the restroom (which is located right near the kitchen) and spotted a dead cockroach. I took a photo and immediately showed it to the cashier. Instead of an apology or a professional response, the cashier tried to tell me it was just a “water bug.” I know the difference—it was absolutely a roach.
The Outcome:
Wasted Food: We were so uncomfortable after seeing the bug near the food prep area that we left $40+ meal and all our leftovers on the table. We simply didn’t feel safe eating it.
Poor Management: Despite leaving half our food behind and showing proof of the issue, no discount or refund was offered.
The Service: We still left a $10 tip because our waitress was excellent and it wasn’t her fault, but the management’s “denial” approach is a huge red flag.
Verdict: If there are visible roaches near the kitchen and management wants to argue about what kind of bug it is rather than fixing the problem, I can’t trust the kitchen’s cleanliness. We won’t be returning.

As soon as we are seated our drink orders are taken with speedy service.
They made sure to check on us multiple times. Our food was perfect and correct. Coffee was topped off always and just in time. Highly recommend. Very friendly staff.

It was really good everyone was nice and lovely it was only 10-20 dollars per person and there was only five of us it was clean and nice inside the restaurant the dessert is good and so are the nachos so I give it a 5 star rating but if I had to put my own vote it would be 100/100

When I first heard about this place, I said I have to try it, well my daughter came over from FW and invited me out to eat, she said pick a place, I told her let’s try The Blue Mound, well let me say what a great place. Norma was our server, Absolutely Terrific, her friendly warm attitude just added to our experience! The food was all homemade. Quality and flavor was Delicious. The portions were awesome! I now I go about once a week sometimes twice a week, breakfast is always fantastic, Roy’s Breakfast Bowl is a must try, French Toast is delicious! Their Meatloaf, liver and onions and BLT are all Delicious. You must try this place. Prices are very reasonable!! The whole experience is just Great!!

Swung in to try Blue Mound Cafe on a Monday night. They were surprisingly busy, with only two people working in front of house, but they were super friendly and professional and handled it well. They have a special menu (will run you about $8.99), which is nice because it reminds me of what food used to cost. I got the chicken fried steak special, and it was excellent. There was a surprising amount of food for the price. The chicken strip basket my wife got was also huge. We got cheesecake to go, which honestly was not my favorite. My wife loved hers, though, but I thought the crust was a bit grainy, and I didn’t like the aftertaste. I’m probably just a bit picky, but all in all, it’s stick-to-your-ribs country cooking, and I recommend if you’re in the area!

Food was amazing. The portions are huge and that goes for everyone at my table. The waitress was super nice. Even gave the child in our group a free banana creme pie since she made a minor mistake on their order. The kid didn’t even mention anything. It was the waitress that noticed.
