I really enjoyed the atmosphere and food in this restaurant. The French onion soup was done the perfect way so the crouton had the cheese melted separately so there would be no cheese grease in the soup. The soup was really great. I had the half chicken as a main but my wife’s hispi cabbage looked awesome. Nice French red wine and lovely coffee to end. The front of house and wait staff were all very nice. Great restaurant and very comfortable seats and space.

Service and atmosphere were great. Lovely wine too. The scallop starter was really good. The mains (the lamb and the sausages) were ok. The sausage dish was over seasoned so over powered what might have been really delicious. The creme brûlée was good and so was my desert cocktail.

This has to be one of the biggest disappointments in my (at time of writing) 28 years on this earth.
We came last year (my fiancée and I) and had an unforgettable experience which changed our perspective on restaurants as a whole. This year, we came away feeling the same things as last year, but in the complete opposite direction.
After being seated, our server Rachida showed a clear lack of care about our presence within her section, and could not answer any questions asked about the menu – she couldn’t even tell us the soup of the day without another server telling her. This would strike as potentially someone being new, but she clearly knew her way around the restaurant enough to not be a recent hire, she only cared about tables in her section when time came for them to open their wallets. When she came to take out drinks order, she was very blunt and uncouth with her language. When you go to an authentic French or Italian restaurant, especially one as upmarket as this, you expect a certain level of service, and that encompasses the language used whilst at the table with your guests.
Starters were okay, at best. French onion soup was spiced (bizzarly), and the scallops were slightly undercooked. In hindsight, these were probably the best the kitchen could muster up, as it was only downhill from here.
Mains of pork belly and sea bream were riddled with issues. I was asked how I’d like the pork cooked (asked for medium) and it came out so far beyond well done it was almost applauding – dry and lacking any meaningful seasoning. The sea bream itself was cooked nicely, but the veg on the plate were raw, as was the added side of veg. For both mains though, there were elements that were on the plates, but not on the menu – and those elements didn’t work. Romaine lettuce with the sea bream, an ocean of overly-sharp balsamic dressing on the pork. These would’ve been issues which could’ve been rectified, if our server came to check on the food AT ALL during our 3 courses.
Deserts were the final nail in the coffin. Ordered chocolate mousse and bavarois au citron, and these were over-engineered poncy plates of over-priced twaddle. The bavarois is advertised as having a sponge cake with it, but when it arrived it looked like someone took a cheese grater to a kitchen sponge. The chocolate shell for the mousse was uneven and far too thick, almost requiring a steak knife to cut into to even begin to consume.
Overall, this is a massive disappointment. Over £60 a head, and for that you get very poor and inattentive service from a server who clearly didn’t care about her section until it was time to pay, in an atmosphere which was as confusing as it was off-putting. This went from a must-eat, to an avoid-at-all-costs.

Fabulous place! The atmosphere is very nice and the staff was so friendly. Let’s talk food! Amazing. My husband had the butter poached cod while I had the Lamb. Both dishes were fabulously cooked. We had the tart and bavarois both were so wonderful.

We wanted to have French food and Atlantic has the high ratings. Atlantic is part of a group of high end restaurants and we are excited to experience the food. We had escargot (good) goat cheese salad (below average), French onion soup ( way too salty but the bread is good) and we had the Cote de Beuof (disappointing, medium well and tough and sauce not fragrance). Big disappointment as we were looking forward to the steak. And the creme brûlée, how could the crush be so thick. I have never eaten such a creme brûlée. You can’t break the sugar crush with spoon. I have to use bread knife to break the icing sugar. Worst I have ever had.

Went last night for a special occasion and was so disappointed. Had wanted to come here for years and unfortunately wont be returning. For starters I got the French onion soup which was absolutely delicious, highly recommend. My partner ordered the snails and they were heavily underseasoned. Then the mains arrived, the waiter asked us if there was anything else he could get us and we asked for salt, but he just went into auto pilot mode and started walking away saying “enjoy your meal”. We had to raise our voices and say HELLO loudly for him to actually come back and listen to us. It was very odd and put a not very nice atmosphere in the air. My partner had the trout and he said it tasted sour like it was off. I got the beef shin which was very dry, comes with a tiny amount of potatoes and unfortunately mine had string wound round the meat which hadn’t been removed. The staff were kind enough to remove this from the bill which was lovely of them. At this point we just felt very deflated and wanted to leave. I am very appreciative that the beef was removed from the bill but there was just a lot of things that weren’t good and it ruined our special celebration.

I absolutely love it here. Food is always fantastic and the cocktails are delicious. Never had bad service. Comfortable and lovely to sit in. Bar area is also great with a lovely small outdoor area. Food is worth every penny.

We recently visited the Atlantic after years and were very impressed. We had a 4 course menu with a cocktail and everything was outstanding. Food was delicious, service was faultless. We went with a VIP voucher which is available on their website and it is fantastic value, ours was gifted but I’d happily pay for it! It’s great to revisit a place to discover that it is even better than how you remember it! They have a cosy space just outside like a wee terrace, it has been revamped and it looks very beautiful.
