Our Dog Watch Mystic location specializes in authentic, house-smoked BBQ along with other Dog Watch staples, including lobster rolls, fish ‘n chips, burgers and much more. Our Mystic location is the perfect place for families with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, lawn games, firepit and weekly live music. Typical American restaurant with a nice big lawn filled with lawn games for the little ones. The food here was mid at best. The chicken wings and ribs were definitely overcooked and super dry… the steak was on the saltier side. The pastas were just okay. The best thing we had were surprisingly, the French fries.

The ONLY restaurant we ate at during our family vacation. And it was not the wrong choice!
Service was great! The server checked on us multiple times, making sure drinks were filled and we didn’t need anything.
The food… the food was all fantastic! We ordered multiple apps and all had different meals, EVERYTHING was delicious!
It wasn’t overly crowded, but we were there a little early. We also sat outside, which was nice and covered. We had 5 children with us too, and they were happy playing at the outside entertainment area.
The price was VERY reasonable. We had 9 ppl, and with a few drinks and the apps, less than 200.
Would 100% eat there again.

Rolled in on a Friday night with our one-year-old, and the place was hopping — mostly with retirees who looked like they’ve been coming here since Nixon was in office. Everyone was super friendly, which made me feel slightly guilty for what I’m about to say next.
Ordered the “brisket,” which was really just pot roast wearing a brisket costume and hoping no one would notice. I did. My taste buds filed a formal complaint. Easily the worst brisket I’ve ever had.
Mac and cheese? Glorious. Cornbread? Solid. Mashed potatoes? Sad. Like, “forgot to salt them and then apologized with a pat of butter” sad.
Beer list was aggressively average. I got a local brew in a can, which felt like a passive-aggressive dare.
Overall: lovely people, meh food, and a brisket that needs therapy.

From the moment you step in, you can feel the easy hum of the harbor. Boats sway just beyond the deck in the near distance, gulls call overhead, and the salty breeze wraps around you like an old friend. The staff treats you the same way… welcoming, genuine, and quick to share a smile.
I was lucky enough to be taken care of by Riann, whose warmth and kindness made the experience even better. She’s the kind of person who makes you feel like an old friend, not just a guest… and our conversation was every bit as good as the meal.
Speaking of the meal… my lobster roll was cooked to perfection… the kind of fresh that tastes like it came straight off a boat and onto my plate. Every bite carried that perfect blend of flavor and freshness, and it’s the kind of food you can’t stop thinking about afterward. And the coconut shrimp!! Amazing!!
I can’t wait to go back… not just for the view, but for more of their wonderful food, the sea air, and a good conversation with Riann. Dog Watch Mystic is pure Mystic magic.

Such a nice place! We ordered the calamari (it was good but oily, so be aware), the cod and the brisket sandwich. The main dishes was really good and well made (A LOT of food for one person that eats little portions). The service is excellent, the food came fast and the restaurant was full. I would love to come back to try the salads.

Had a great time here! We have two small children and this place was perfect. Basically a whole playground attached to the restaurant. Food was great and service was great. Beer selection was surprisingly small. Parking can be a nightmare they don’t have a parking lot. All in all it’s good bbq especially if you have kids.

The lobster roll was absolutely amazing! The generous portion of lobster was overflowing from the roll, making every bite rich and satisfying. The service was just as impressive—everyone on the team had a warm and welcoming attitude, creating a fantastic dining experience. Highly recommend!

Walked in here without a reservation. There was a long wait but we luckily got seated at the bar. The bar tender was sweet and quick. We got clam chowder, lobster roll and bang bang shrimp. Huge portion sizes and delicious food. Nice buttery hot lobster roll just melted in our mouth. Bang bang shrimp was very filling. So was the chowder. Nice, cute outdoor seating. This place had a great vibe.

So many restaurants to choose from; and for some reason my family members always choose the same one for their birthday dinners. My fiancé and I researched many new restaurants as well; but we always decide to come back to Dog Watch In Mystic. We love the everyone there and the food is always top quality. I always try something new but also get usuals (I have a big smile as I say this).
This was 12 days before Christmas and they were pretty busy, the place looked amazing. Beautiful decorations inside and out. I felt very happy as soon as we walked in. We had great seat by the window, close to the fire place so that was even better. We tried a new beer called “Mountain Ale” by the Shed Brewery. Let me tell you the aroma and delightful notes were to die for. very subtle hint of caramel and toffee with a hoppy aftertaste. I am having my local liquor store get this for us. I am glad I didn’t go for wine on this day. The food was great. I always have to get their burnt ends. I know, I know, I do it all the time but we love it!!! Last time I was in I tried the most extraordinary Tuna Tartare. I have tried this in many places and all types of cuisine; however, this by far exceeds my expectations and I will tell you why. You get a lot of tuna and super crispy rice crackers. You get so many that its almost a meal on its own. I always feel like we keep going and going and its never ending. The quality of the tuna is excellent, very clean and tasteful, we are addicted to the Wasabi aioli and always want more. This is something I think I will have to have all the time here. First time trying their Italian Wedding soup and my fiancé said WOW best one yet. He actually finished the whole thing, I couldn’t believe it. We tried their surf and turf special with shrimp and NY Strip steak with two sides. We couldn’t finish this so we brought some home. Last thing we tried was their Bang bang shrimp. It was very good too, but I think it was not as crispy although it had a lot of flavors.
I am sure we will be back.

This is such a fun spot. They have indoor and outdoor seating with table service. You can bring your kids, bring your dog, and bring your friends. I would recommend reservations for bigger parties, and during the summer, but they can more than likely accomidate. They also have a tent for events, a playground for the kids. Jenga, cornhole, a gas fire pit, and a couple other outdoors games for kids, or adults alike. Sounds loud and caotic right?… Nope! Dinner seating is seperate from all the fun stuff. You can still have a cozy night with a date. I haven’t even gotten to the food…which never disappoints. Check out their menu for the great selections. I’m sorry I didnt get a lot of good pics… but here is my Kale salad with added hot lobster. (Not for everyone..I get that… but I LOVED it!)
