Visited shortly after 4pm today, January 26th. Server John took care of us. We placed our order, and when food was delivered, my husband was missing the waffle for his All Star Special. My husband asked about it and I asked for some hot sauce and John insisted that my husband ordered the Two Egg Breakfast. That’s okay, miscommunications happen, but John continued to argue with us and even threw a comment at us to continue to press the issue. He fired the waffle, and while it cooked, John complained to his coworker about us and the issue with our order at normal volume, which we could hear from across the restaurant. While the waffle cooked, I had to ask the gentleman working on the grill for the hot sauce we asked John for.
John delivered my husband’s waffle, and almost immediately after that, dropped our check. He didn’t check on how our food was or check for refills despite passing by our table multiple times. Eventually I was able to ask him for refills, and when I did, he grabbed both of our cups by STICKING HIS FINGERS INTO OUR CUPS TO PICK THEM UP. I will be honest, I kind of lost my composure and hollered across the restaurant to ask for new cups, seeing as he stuck his fingers in our cups, but we quickly finished our meal and left after this.
I have worked in food service for years and I have never experienced something quite like this. Not only is it a bad look and poor service, but a blatant health code violation, and it reflects poorly on a location that otherwise has some of the friendliest servers in this part of West Chester. A minor miscommunication might have happened, but arguing to our faces and then complaining about us within earshot to his coworkers is poor behavior that should be addressed. Making a health code violation is a liability that necessitates immediate action.
I honestly was very surprised at how clean this location was also.
We would definitely make the 45min drive just to visit this location, even though we pass 4 others.
Aretha, if you see this, please don’t ever let your light kind hearted spirit die down. You’re awesome !
Recommend going the extra mile(s) to the one near Khols, off tylersville rd. They are friendly & give excellent service, fully staffed or not.
