Tandoor Indian Cuisine has been a favorite Indian Restaurant in Sarasota, Florida, since it opened in 2001. Located in the University District near UTC, we cater to the Bradenton Lakewood Ranch communities for a relaxing dining experience where guests often feel like part of the family. This local Indian restaurant is inspired by the rich flavors of India, offering both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes made by skilled chefs. We use fresh ingredients and traditional recipes to create meals that are both tasty and healthy. One of our specialties is our curry, made from a family recipe using herbs and spices that add both flavor and nutritional value. Tandoor Indian Restaurant is always open for both lunch & dinner in University Park FL.
Traditional Indian dining & a buffet are available at this laid-back standby with Eastern decor.

Butter Chicken- Very Large portion served in a silver pot. Small side of rice. Loved the flavor and consistency of the sauce. Large chunks of delicious chicken. Great. Will get again for sure!
Chicken Biriyani- Nice sized portion. Flavorful rice with Chicken and various fruits and veggies. Chicken blended in a bit. Would have liked large chunks like Butter Chicken. But still nice flavor and very fresh.
Naan- Four pieces served hot. Delicious. We decided we needed a second order. 🙂
Kheer – A pretty, chilled rice pudding. Lovely flavor and texture.
Great service and checked on by the manager. We need to come back for the lunch buffet some weekend.
Loved the music! Family friendly. Very clean and welcoming. Great experience.
We arrived early on a Saturday (around 5 p.m.) and were seated right away. The atmosphere was calm and quiet, which made it so easy to talk and enjoy our meal—such a refreshing change from the usual weekend bustle.
Our server, Justin, was friendly and really helpful as we navigated all the choices. I went with the Channa Masala, and my husband chose the Mushroom Do Piaza. Both were fantastic. The garlic and butter naan came out warm, soft, and impossible to resist.
Portions are generous—we each had enough leftovers for lunch the next day. One of the owners, Shobi, even stopped by our table, and it was lovely to hear a bit of the restaurant’s backstory.
We will absolutely be back and plan to work our way through the entire vegetarian menu!
