I ordered the mac & cheese, greens, catfish nuggets, shrimp, and ribs. I asked for my food to be separated because I didn’t want the barbecue sauce touching my fried shrimp and fish, and Norm/Norman kindly assured me it was no problem. While I waited, he even offered samples of the baked beans and yams—DELICIOUS!
When my order was ready, everything looked perfect and tasted even better. You can truly taste the love in the food. I went back to the counter for the peach cobbler I’d heard so much about, but unfortunately they were sold out (which tells you how good it must be!). Instead, I grabbed cornbread, caramel banana pudding, and lemon cake. I sampled everything before heading out and was beyond pleased.
I’m so happy I stopped at Hotlanta on my way back to LA. Great people and amazing food—I will definitely be back!
My 2nd time here and everything was cold when we got home. It was a rainy day and the restaurant was empty. We still had to wait 15-20 minutes to get some cold food. The 1st time I came here was a busy night with hot food coming out the kitchen.
My 1st review:
We had a ribs, fish, and shrimp combo. Our sides were mac-n-cheese and yams. My mom and I gave it a . However, my Uncle tasted the greens and said they tasted like sugar. He didn’t eat anything after that.
Service? Lol, it is truly authenticly ATL shawty! CPT all day When I walked to the counter to order they were trying to figure out whose order was whose. They had 2 stacks of containers behind hem ready to go. I knew then, this might be a long night. The wait wasn’t too long. Our food was hot, fresh, and delicious.
Ambiance? Like I said ATL shawty! If you don’t know what that means, you could go find out!
One order was ready (bought 2 orders of the same thing) woman working who took my order came back to ask what the flavor of the other wings was. (The food again is the same) told her and continued to wait… I love the atmosphere but they need help. Pretty disappointed.
Terrible execution of soul food. Sorry not sorry. Do better please.
In a time where inflation makes ordering “To Go” a very selective process we wish we would have not ordered from Hotlanta. The wings were not it and the things could have stayed in the kitchen.
We ordered the Family meal and had it delivered by Postmates. We ordered lemon pepper, regular hot wings, and sweet Hawaiian. All the wings were over cooked and dry with no meat on the bone.
We also had the baked beans, yams, catfish, hot links and cornbread.
Such a lack of finesse. Wings were either too salty, too sweet or unseasoned.
Yams: Too Sweet no depth of flavor just sugary.
Baked beans: over sweetened with bbq sauce
Hot Link: typical and dried out also. Served in an over soggy bun.
Mac N Cheese: not salted enough bland
Catfish: too salty
I come from a chef background who specializes in soul cuisine. This is the experience that makes people afraid to try soul food. Please get a better wing vendor or at least be aware of how you present your food because these were terrible and over priced. We will not be returning here.
All hit the mark. HIGHLY recommend the Medium Hot Buffalo sauce. The perfect balance of heat and flavor.
When I’m back in the area, I will make it a point to stop here again.
