Southern cooking served in a cozy dinerlike space with booths, a bar & vintage prints, plus a patio.

This restaurant is great! The ladies that make it work everyday are Fantastic!! Really good people!!
I come here every day they are open.
If you happen to like liver & onions, which I do, this is the place for you.
And for breakfast, I get the Dixie Scramble, so good!!
If you are within an hour, it is worth the drive! Be sure to tip well…
Have a great day!!

Visited the Dixie Restaurant for the first time this morning. I enjoyed the quaint southern atmosphere and hospitality by the staff. The food was good. I especially recommend the fluffy buttery biscuits. Room for improvement: I recommend improving the drinks, specifically the hot tea and hot chocolate is on the menu but wasn’t available for purchase today. Also, I recommend using pure maple syrup instead of pancake syrup and fresh whipped butter instead of packaged butter.

We came here because another restaurant was full (this place was also busy). Really good breakfast. My husband had an Italian omelet, I also had a taste, it was pretty good, surprised we had never seen this type of omelet. His grits and biscuit were good, so his Italian/Southern breakfast was good. I got a Belgian Waffle with chocolate chips, it was really enjoyable. The servers were really nice, place is clean, price is good for the quality of food and coffee is okay. We will definitely try to come again.

We tried! We came in and were told to sit anywhere we wanted. We sat down at the only empty table (I think there are only 8 table in the restaurant). Someone came right over and took out soft drink order and came right back with 2 sodas – both of which were flat. For the next 8 minutes we sat there while we saw a staff member refilling ketchup containers. No one else came to our table. We got up and walked out, leaving our flat sodas on the table. So, I can’t comment on the food. I will let you decide how we felt about the service we received.

These places barely exist anymore. Local community supported diner with regional fare. Great breakfast. Lovely staff. Diverse clientele. Reasonable prices.

This was such a great place to dine in! As soon as I walked in, we were greeted with such politeness! All of the staff members were very friendly and showed such great hospitality! We had the honor of being served by Mrs. Penny and she was truly a joy! Such an amazingly sweet person and she did a phenomenal job! This is a very unique place with an antique like decor ! The food was very good as well! I had the salmon burger with some sides and loved it!! It was fresh, well seasoned, and a nice size. I overall enjoyed my experience there and would certainly return when visiting the area. The prices were very reasonable!! Highly recommend!

Did I mention the fact that everyone working there is friendly, courteous, and are actually happy to be there in your service?!?
Hands down the best coconut custard pie I’ve had in years!!
Return Visit- If you have never experienced Southern Spoonbread, are you in for a treat!!! Plenty of butter and I’m in heaven ⛪️
Tried the Liver and Onions Special, great meal and you can’t go wrong with any of the sides. Did I mention how good their hot dog chili is?!?! Oooo Mmmm Gggg !!! If you’re Jones’n for a Southern home-cooked meal, check ✔️ out Dixie for lunch!! Not just the best breakfast in town!! See you there….
Another visit- This time I read all the awards Dixie has been awarded! Best Iced Tea, and it’s true!! I think part of it is the ice; it’s the Old-fashioned, shaved nuggets kind. Be careful, brain freeze…..

The best diner in Petersburg! Good old fashioned food served with a smile. The breakfast is awesome. Lunch is just as good. Located in historic downtown Petersburg, it is conveniently located on a corner with a stop light. Has outside dining, inside tables/booths, and also a counter you can sit at. Great restaurant.

Service was the best part of our breakfast experience. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. There is nothing special about the breakfast menu, but it appears that the chef took the time and cooked each order well. There was a bit of wait for our food, but it was worth it. Food is not gourmet, typical diner breakfast food, but the quality was very good. Corncake (corn pancake) was delicious, I have never had it before. I ordered the Corned Beef Hash meal, the Corned Beef was cooked slightly crisp outside, nice and soft inside. I loved it. My friend had the Large Fried Catfish Filet with Homefries, biscuit and an order of the sausage gravy. His wife ordered the Salmon Cakes with Stewed Apples, and Corncake. I have tried half of the Salmon Cake, it was OK.
