Nicollet Island Inn delivered an absolutely charming and romantic Valentine’s Day experience. From the moment we arrived, the ample parking made things stress-free–a rarity in Minneapolis. The ambiance was intimate, with soft lighting and a cozy, historic feel that set the perfect tone for the evening.

The four-course meal was well thought out and executed beautifully:
* Bruschetta – A fresh, flavorful start with perfectly toasted bread and vibrant toppings.
* French Onion Soup – Rich, savory, and packed with deep caramelized onion flavor. The melted cheese on top was the perfect touch. The onion soup was average.
* Filet Mignon Medallions & Pan-Seared Halibut – Both entrées were cooked to perfection. The filet was tender and juicy, while the halibut had a gorgeous sear with a delicate, buttery texture.
* Chocolate Cake – A decadent and satisfying end to the meal. Rich, moist, and exactly what you want for dessert on Valentine’s Day. Another average dish.

The cocktails were also top-notch, well-balanced, and crafted with attention to detail. Service was warm and attentive without feeling rushed, making the evening feel extra special.

If you’re looking for a romantic and elevated dining experience in the Twin Cities, Nicollet Island Inn is a fantastic choice. We’ll definitely be back for another special occasion!

Always great service and food. The neighborhood isn’t always the best and it can be unconfortable walking there or parking nearby at times. After 10 pm they require payment up front or a credit card. It’s a bit pricy but the food comes out hot and delicious. They have a full bar inside. I enjoyed a delicious bailey’s and coffee. Sadly i forgot my servers name but she was great. There is security at the door. All gender bathrooms with nice sink and mirror area. I believe they still have a club/cabaret upstairs but I didn’t visit while I was there. There is a side window for Togo/curbside orders i believe. Great place. Highly recommend if you’re visiting downtown or the convention center. Nearby hotel access.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Yes, SIX stars – because sometimes five just isn’t enough!)

A NIGHT OF PURE MAGIC AT THE NICOLLET DINER & ROXY’S CABARET

Where do I even begin? My best friend landed a new job, and I wanted to celebrate somewhere unforgettable. When I heard The Nicollet Diner had a drag show attached, it was an immediate “I HAVE to do this.” And honey, we did THAT.

THE FOOD:
Let’s talk about the club sandwich served over fries – nostalgic comfort with a twist, like the old trolley diners I grew up with, but elevated and way less greasy.

The poutine? Fries, cheese curds, gravy, cheese, chives, and onions working together in perfect harmony.

And that butterscotch malt… chef’s kiss … mmmmm, butterscotch indeed.

THE SHOW:
The ‘ICONS’ drag show at Roxy’s Cabaret was EVERYTHING. This was my friend’s first drag show, and what an introduction! The performers brought passion, wit, humor, and genuine homage to the legends they celebrated. The production value was stunning – from the dazzling costumes and sequins to the lighting and stage design, every moment felt like a love letter to the art of drag.

No two shows are the same here, and that’s the magic.

You’re not just watching a performance; you’re experiencing a living, breathing celebration of queer artistry.

THE VIBE:
The staff? Cute, confident, and playful – exactly what you want in a space like this. The entire atmosphere was unapologetically queer and absolutely fabulous. This is the kind of place where you can be yourself, celebrate yourself, and lose yourself in the moment.

THE CONVENIENCE:
Dinner, a show, AND an after-party upstairs at On The Rocks bar? Why risk driving to multiple locations when you can have the complete night out all under one roof? It’s genius.

PRO TIPS:
Bring dollar bills! It’s traditional, and these queens WORK for it.

Get the malt (shake or liquor – your choice, no judgment).

Come ready to celebrate women, art, and the beautiful chaos that is drag.

This is the perfect spot for first-timers and seasoned drag show lovers alike.

I’ve never given a six-star review before, but I’ll go all the way for cabaret!

The Nicollet Diner and Roxy’s Cabaret isn’t just a restaurant or a show – it’s an EXPERIENCE.

Whether you’re celebrating something special or just craving a night that feeds your soul (and your stomach), this is your spot.

Baby, this was a queer fabulous time. You dig? ✨

Came for breakfast. Had the protein omelet with side of cakes. Very good service, tasty food. Couldn’t even eat it all. A bit expensive for 1 person after tips was $37, but overall would eat here again!

My wife and I had a great Christmas Eve brunch at Nicollet Diner. The place was slammed but the vibes were great. For our meal we had eggs Benedict (made Florentine) and the pancakes with strawberries. Our meal was great and no stress on the delayed drinks given the packed nature of the place.

Small diner with charm. Seating is extremely limited, so you may be waiting a while to get a table. Food was okay, not amazing, not terrible. Homemade shake was tasty, and portion size for it was significant (likely enough for two). Staff was decently attentive, though not overly friendly. Table and floor were both sticky. Decent portion sizes. Not sure we’ll be back, we weren’t overly impressed

Love me some Nicollet Diner! Pancakes and French toast are always on point. Came in on Valentine’s Day and asked for an iced coffee, our server Alex (I think was their name) made me a great espresso drink. Great atmosphere I feel at home when dining there

I come here often as a DoorDash driver to pick up customer orders, but every time, it’s a frustrating experience. The restaurant staff don’t seem to respect or support delivery drivers. They ask us to wait outside at the pickup window, but many times no one shows up for 5–10 minutes. When I go inside to ask, they say it’s only for dine-in customers and tell me to go back outside again. That too with no respect

It’s winter and very cold, and waiting outside this long without any help is really uncomfortable and unfair. I understand the restaurant is busy, but delivery drivers are also part of their business. It would be great if they treated us with a little more respect and made the pickup process smoother and faster.

Dined here and had the cabaret burger and fries with a lemon drop martini. Sat upstairs at the bar. It was pretty empty when I visited but I assume just because it was fairly early on a Sunday evening. The burger was decent and the lemon drop was perfect. The bartender was top tier. I’ll visit again when in the area
