Once we were seated, the food was excellent and really stood out. Unfortunately, our waitress was condescending, cold, and difficult to find, which was disappointing. For me, service is a big part of the dining experience, and it definitely impacted the night.
The food and atmosphere are excellent, but it’s unfortunate how much a rude server can detract from an otherwise great experience.
Now for the not so good. I am guessing it was just an off day. The service was pleasant and the server was good when he was around. But he was not around very often. Service was just slow. We always had to find the waiter. Not sure why because they were not that busy. He was very nice and helpful when he was around.
Then we get to dessert. Order a French press coffee. Big mistake. Got warm brown water. No flavor and my guess, not enough grounds. Barely taste of coffee. I returned it. And ordered what I thought was an Apple Galaktoboureko, at least that’s what I thought I ordered. Still not sure what happened. Asked for another dessert menu and that one had another apple dessert that was not Galaktoboureko. Both me and my wife remember it being a Galaktobourek. Either way it was not what we expected. The waiter and manager were very kind and brought us another dessert that was more similar to what I had thought I ordered and comped us the desserts. Even with a different name the description of the other apple dessert was still supposed to have a semelina custard, which it did not.
It was just a strange evening.
I do advise that someone check all the menus as the mess with the dessert really took away from the evening. I was really looking forward to the dessert. Galaktoboureko is my favorite Greek pastry and along with the really bad coffee ruined the evening.
It’s evident that they cater more to folks that are dining in vs. delivery or take out.
If you want my five stars, you can “earn it” by making it right. Deliver me some fresh hot food! vs. a response instructing me to contact someone. I ordered off of Uber eats delivered to Shaan on Marine Drive.
