If I have anything less positive to say, it would be that I felt the prices were a bit high, but that seems to be the standard these days. Definitely not over the top by any means. Also, please update the online menu, it’s really old.
I had heard good things so I made plans for breakfast here. Big mistake. I ordered the beer battered pancakes with sausage links and one biscuit & gravy, because if you have B&G on the menu, I’m going to judge you by that alone. My brother had a spicy avocado eggs Benedict with tater tots because he’s a tater total addict. Nothing could have prepared us for how awful the food was.
They literally just put beer batter for fried fish or cheese curds in pancake mix. I’m not sure why you’d want a bitter beer aftertaste in pancakes but they went for it. Probably the worst pancake I’ve ever had. The biscuits and gravy was a frozen biscuit with powdered sausage gravy mix. I can look at it and tell you it’s a mix without even tasting it. I’m 90% sure it’s from Sysco.
My brother’s Benedict was just as bad. They took powdered Hollendaise sauce and blended it with a canned cheese sauce and threw in some spices they thought would liven it up. Eggs were cooked correctly but it was a weak outcome. His tater tots had more sodium than a salt lick which was odd, because they didn’t salt the tots after cooking them. They had all that salt inside the actual tots. It was an insane amount, like a recoil amount. Not the restaurant’s fault, but it is what it is.
All in all, it’s just not worth the higher prices. You can find much better food for cheaper anywhere in LaCrosse. It’s too bad really, I had heard good things.
Do not recommend! Will NOT be going back
The Benedict was ok. I would probably try something different.
Good atmosphere. Family friendly vibes for all. Overall I’d recommend to visit as it’s not a restaurant chain.
– Tried their wings night – wings were juicy and good. served hot (temperature)
worth having.
– Tried their weekend breakfast served till 3pm. Good selections for breakfast.
food was good. Hashed brown was crispy yet soft inside. over easy eggs nicely done.
tonight were there for their burgers night.
Nutbush changed their menu to a big card style which is better.
$2 for bare burger (bun and beef patty). Each topping +$0.30,
fries +$1 and sweet potato fries +$1.78.
I had burger $2 + sauted onions $0.30 + cheese $0.30 + fries $1. Total: $3.60.
Dont expect the burger to be the typical size from the regular menu.
Its not big. A average human (not small eater) will need 2 to fill u up. if u r a bigger eater… maybe 3 or 4.
Beef patty was also not thick like u will expect from regular menu. However, its cooked well. not dry.
The fries were ok.
Was it great value for $3.60? I will say not quite.
However, Nutbush does serve good quality food overall. worth trying if u r not into the burger night.
Their service standard was good. attentive.
