My Kumi experience was very disappointing. I’ll admit a small part of that was my failure to pay attention. The posted price I noticed was $22.99 which was $1 more than the single entre I had planned to order at the store two doors down. What a deal. But this was Sunday at the special weekend rate. With tea my bill came to $29.24; not quite the bargain I was looking forward to. There must be an art to running a steam table but this special skill eludes Kumi Buffet. The meats were dry and overcooked. The vegetables were overcooked. The lamb and prime rib were dry and overcooked.The shiu mai and gyoza fillings were mysterious and did not taste very good. The hot and sour soup looked great with a rich brown color and at least three types of mushrooms laced into the broth. But it was bland – neither hot nor sour nor even salted enough. Some fish based entres were OK – halibut in black bean sauce, baked scallops on the half shell, baked seafood, salt and pepper shrimp. But none were especially good. A nice waitress was working my section. She was overworked but did her best to be friendly and attentive. The store was crowded and noisy so the formula must have worked on some level but not for me. I left pictures of my most memorable impressions from my visit.

I saw oyster in Google map photo, but did not see it when I go there. Limited number of dishes, average level of taste. It could be an option if you shopping at that plaza, but it may not be a good choice if you want to try a buffet in Portland.

Salmon is pre frozen. Everyone working here is on their phone, and they only hire people on the wait staff who don’t understand anything I say. The man argued with me about there being silverware on the table (there wasn’t), I had to show him no one gave me silverware. They limit your stay to two hours, or they charge you extra. Not one people working here looks like they actually want to be here. This is literally the second worst buffet I have every eaten at in my 53 years of living. I look forward to never returning.

On Sunday, November 30, 2025, I went with my family to eat at that place. We arrived at 7:40 pm. The website says it closes at 9:00 pm, so my husband asked if they were still accepting customers, and they said yes. So we sat down to eat. We had only been there for about 15 minutes when they brought us the bill for $130. We had barely arrived when the workers, and the cashiers started cleaning. Washing the grills where they cook the food. And cleaning tables, sweeping and mopping We asked about some food that we had seen and they told us they had already thrown it away. We understand that we arrived almost when they were about to close, but if they were going to behave that way, it would have been easier to just tell us that they wouldn’t let us in because of the time. We got angry and we didn’t eat too much and we pay a lot because there wasn’t much food left to eat and what was left they were already throwing away.

Wonderful meal! took my marching band here when visiting to perform at the Grand Floral Parade and we had an amazing experience. Was hard to get a good recommendation when planning the trip because locals don’t rate your Asian Seafood Buffet scene too highly, but I can say this was a great meal. Yes, most of the top shelf Vegas style buffets closed after the Pandemic but Kumi is a great upper middle tier buffet. Clean, great service, tasty food AND the largest selection of sushi rolls at any buffet I have ever been to. (I kinda buried the lead here) Amazing selection and all my friends who love sushi (including myself) were impressed! So Portland don’t be so down on your Asian Buffets, Great Quality! Great Selection! Great Service, and GREAT PRICE! in LA this would be closer to $30 per person, and it’s even better with no sales tax! Bravo! Slow Clap Kumi!

I didn’t like their selection when they first opened, but I went with a group two days ago, and found their offerings to be more diverse, with more choices that will cater to more people’s tastes.
I can recommend this place now.
It doesn’t have much in the way of “atmosphere” — it is still pretty spartan as far as the decor goes, but the food is kept fresh, and the place is clean and well maintained.
The service is not very attentive, but is easy to locate, and helpful if you need help.

Do not go here if you are vegan or vegetarian. They have one dish that is vegan, the rest are loaded with meat. They charge almost $22 for lunch and honestly there are better priced places for folks that eat meat than what they have to offer.
The hostess was very cold and rude when I asked if I could see what they offered and if they charge less for veg only.

Girlfriend brought me here for my birthday. We both got home from work around 7pm, by time we arrived it was 7:50. Hours say closes at 9. It should say closes at 8pm. They were already taking food away and would not cook anymore . By 8:20pm more than half the food was gone and others were low supply. Note pictures were taken at 8:20, this is 40 minutes before closing! What food there was is good just wish I could have tried more! First time here and probably last time since people working here are not pleasant….

This is by far the worst buffet I’ve ever had. The service was next to non we never got asked for what drinks until we flagged down a server. They were empty @ 7pm dinner time on a Saturday night. Had hardly any choices of food, all that was out was dry and been sitting for a while it’s just not good! Waste of $93 spent. I probably would have gotten more joy and satisfaction given it to charity.

Nice clean place, staff was kind and quick with service drinks and cleaning off used plates off our table. The Pho is Tasty the broth was really good. Also tried the chicken and sticky sauce. It was good. The whole prawns were tender not over cooked. The Calamari was Taste too. Whole muscles and steamed clams and stir fried noodles and vegetables. Ok its a big selection of food.They also served Prime Rib, one of my favorites and it was perfectly tender and the Au jus sauce was great. They also had sticky crab and lobster and a whole section of Sushi freshly prepared and nothing just sitting for a long time. There was a whole section for deserts too. So price is 19.99 a person well worth it. Great for family and friends. I definitely recommend it!
