Server was fast and friendly but disappeared for a long time after we were done and wanted to pay.
The pizza was 100% soggy almost all the way to the crust and the veggie toppings were still raw/undercooked. Oven too cold.
My wife’s eggplant parm was super good and came on a bed of angel hair pasta. It was cooked perfectly.
I ordered a ceasar salad and the dressing was definitely ranch or mostly ranch…and the salad was half lettuce/parm with croutons and the other half was a dressing. Not enjoyable.
The cheese pizza for the kids was a gooey undercooked mess.
I got a smoked old fashioned, it was good.
From the moment my wife & I walked in the courteous staff immediately greeted us with smiles welcoming us there and quickly seated us. Within seconds, our ultra-kind waitress (Maja) basically made us feel like family from beginning to end. The food was nothing less than perfect and the atmosphere / ambience was is exactly what I had hoped it would be for our special evening.
If you’ve never tried Bella Roma, you’re missing out on a phenomenal experience! We WILL be back many, many more times now that we live here Panama City Beach!
God Bless!
Our server, Paula, was amazing and super charismatic! She made us feel right at home and was always there to help with recommendations.
The food was incredible, delicious and beautifully presented! Each dish was a treat for the taste buds.
I can’t wait to return! Highly recommend this gem!
The bad: The pasta, was mostly hard and dry and I am pretty sure I know why. Most likely they are pre-making the pasta and then not shocking it properly to hold its form and softness. Now let’s talk about the chicken, the chicken was definitely slightly overcooked and there was no sauce at all with the chicken, it was tossed over dry pasta. Fix that, because no we don’t want the food drowned in sauce but it needs moisture. No one wants dry food. That being said let’s back up a bit to the appetizers, that bread was amazing. It was soft, the olive oil was decent, (it could have used some roasted garlic in my opinion) but it wasn’t horrible. I was thinking when we got the bread and olive oil that it was going to be a good meal and that all the reviews before didn’t know what they were talking about. My kids wanted garlic knots (garlic rolls) and then proceeded to tell me how mine are better. (Sorry but I can help). So two things with the garlic knots, first one, the flour ratio is clearly off. As soon as I bit into one all I tasted was the flour. They were soft in the center and toasted well on the bottom. But they must have sat too long on the pick up area because our butter was already congealing. Better heat lamps (webstaurant sells a good one) and less flour when rolling out the dough and tying.
Some good: Now as far as service goes the waiter we had was amazing and who I am assuming is a manager or host was also very attentive and great. Although the table sat behind us got offered bottled water and we didn’t and that rubbed me a bit wrong. But its what it is, I am not chopping points off for that because the waiter was on point.
All of that aside, atmosphere wise this place was nice, but it needs a good overhaul cleaning wise, it wasn’t the worst I have seen, but it certainly wasn’t the best either.
For the good, my son got spaghetti and meatballs and although he said the meatballs didn’t compare to his grandfather’s, but they were good. His spaghetti was also cooked well, much better than the thin spaghetti I was served. Perhaps two different people cooked these two dishes, idk but he did say it was good. My husband did say the salad was good, but then again its hard to mess up salad.
The hopeful: Overall, I think this place has some potential and I really hope that you all address these issues, retrain your chefs and keep pushing forward. Good luck in the future, I hope one day I can come back and change my review.
