The bar alone is a showstopper… beautifully refurbished wood from the historic Poinciana Plaza, rich with character and charm. The space flows beautifully, with large sliding glass doors that open from the main dining room into a more relaxed backyard dining area with Astroturf (cornhole coming soon ), and you’ve got yourself a neighborhood hangout that actually gets it.
The menu is comfortingly familiar, with maybe a few subtle sushi tweaks… but honestly, if anything changed, I couldn’t tell because everything hit the same high standard it always has.
As always, the meal starts strong with those light, thin plantain chips… perfectly salted, perfectly crisp, and dangerously snackable. Then the chef surprised our birthday table by sending out crab fritters, which was such a thoughtful and generous touch.
For appetizers, we shared the octopus, and wow… fresh, tender, light, and beautifully balanced. In hindsight, we should’ve ordered the crab cake too… minor regret, major excuse to come back.
For entrées, I had the macadamia-crusted snapper with sweet potato purée and cauliflower, and it was genuinely to die for… sweet, savory, rich without being heavy. My dinner mates shared a few sushi rolls and loved every bite. They also ordered the Chícharo Depeche-style cod dish… light, crispy, bright with lime and red onion. Hands down one of my favorite bites of the night.
The service deserves a standing ovation. Jamie was friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly proud of the space, the menu, and the family behind it. Speaking of family… the owner’s daughter, Luna, was running around being adorable, and there’s even a roll named after her (which she confidently declared is her favorite). That alone tells you everything you need to know about the heart behind this place.
And somehow… we still made room for dessert. We shared the molten lava cake with vanilla ice cream and the flan, and I’m not exaggerating when I say it was the best lava cake any of us have ever had. Warm, rich, perfectly molten, and not overly sweet… absolute perfection.
Between the incredible food, the full bar they’re clearly excited about, the relaxed backyard vibe, and the genuinely warm, family-driven atmosphere, this new location is a huge win for Northwood.
I really hope the locals show up and support it… because this place is a total winner.
Bonus points… zero parking drama. We scored a spot right across the street.
Birthday dinner = nailed.
Everything we ate was super fresh – they definitely get their seafood at least a few times a week. My seafood with rice was good, the octopus special was great (get the specials of the day since I think they are whatever the chef got super fresh that day), the hand roll was good (served open faced like only super traditional hand roll omakase places do), and the ceviche was okay (but my husband is Mexican + a foodie, and he’s picky about Mexican style ceviche). However the chaufa with seafood from the table over looked amazing.
Our waitress was probably the best waitress we had on this 1 week trip and we ate out twice a day. Forgot her name (blonde female) but she was personable without being intrusive or overbearing.
Chicken Fingers – 10/10
Absolutely delicious! Crispy on the outside, juicy inside—perfectly seasoned and cooked. These were the highlight of our meal.
Fish and Chips – 6/10
The fries and dipping sauce were tasty, but the fish itself was disappointing—bland with no noticeable seasoning. A little salt and pepper could’ve made a big difference.
Wings – 7.5/10
Pretty good! They had a nice flavor, but nothing extraordinary. Worth trying if you’re a wing fan.
Mac Sushi Rolls – 5/10
Just average. The presentation was nice , but the flavor didn’t stand out—lacked the freshness and creativity you’d expect from a sushi spot.
Overall, some hits and some misses. We’d go back for the chicken fingers and maybe try different sushi rolls next time!
Just ate again and a must try mixed jalae! I didnt get a picture but it was amazing.
The owner personally came out to greet us and offered several options for how it could be prepared. She suggested a sashimi-style ceviche, and we decided to trust her recommendation—so glad we did! It was hands down the best meal we’ve had in recent memory.
We also ordered a few sides: oysters, truffle fries, a cold ceviche, and sweet potato mash. Every single dish was equally delicious and beautifully presented.
What made the experience even more special was the owner taking time to share the restaurant’s history and its recent move to a new location. The hospitality, attention to detail, and quality of food were all top-notch. Everything was perfect from start to finish.
We can’t wait to come back next time we’re in Palm Beach!
