The pond at the front is so low on water that the fish are struggling to stay submerged and children were throwing coins directly at them. It was really sad.
The cocktails were great. Food was good. Service was mediocre, but they were really busy so we understood.

Overall great but please do something for those poor fish

This is how I received my salad. Literally just plain lettuce. Absolutely no ginger dressing, which i actually ordered 2 of. No carrots or cabbage, this is just embarrassing. My shrimp was pretty overcooked too. But hey at least my soup was decent

Our waitress that initially served us did a great job taking our orders and serving our drinks and salads. However, the hibachi chef with the curly waxed mustache was terrible. He didn’t speak and just went through the motions to cook the food. He didn’t serve us yum yum or peanut sauce. The steak has zero flavor. Whoever set up the chef’s tray didn’t only counted out enough shrimp for 3 people when we needed 4 servings. The overall service was awkward. We attempted to make small talk, but he made little effort to respond. When he had to ask us how we wanted our steak he said it in a low tone to where he had to repeat himself. He either needs to get it together and improve his service or find another career. I doubt we will return. It was the worse hibachi experience we have ever had, since we were expecting some sort of entertainment from him.
Thanks. S. Blackmon

The grandchildren love the place and all of us always have great time. Have a decent selection of sushi rolls. We make reservations because we have 18 – 20. Table is always ready wating at time we set for reservations.

Two in our party and joined 4 others for hibachi grill. Wife and I shared shrimp tempura roll. For lunch we had steak and shrimp with fried rice and vegetables. They offered a $2 upgrade to filet Mignon over strip steak and I highly suggest this option. Steak had a wonderful flavor and was ultimately tender and delicious. It was my wife’s birthday and they surprised her with a pineapple boat desert. Chef was great hibachi cooking and was entertaining.

Overall, it was a great experience. We came from another hibachi place here in Tyler to Yamato, and I’m glad we did. The restaurant was clean, the service was excellent, and they even have a koi pond out front — though it’s goldfish for now instead of koi. Still, I wasn’t there for the pond.

Our server was attentive, and the chef was fantastic — he kept my daughter and the two little boys at the table entertained with jokes and fire tricks. The food was great, especially the steak, which was cooked perfectly. The real standout, though, was the noodles — I don’t know what seasoning or sauce they used, but they were easily the best part of the meal.

Overall, a great place for lunch. Hopefully, in the future, they’ll clean out the pond and add some real koi to match the rest of the atmosphere.

Aaaaaah Yamato…..

I’ve had some good times in the past at this place but this one was not as good. We can start off with the restrooms being dirty and not well kept at all. Our chef was good but he seemed tired and said that he was working a lot lately.

The hostesses were another thing all together, they were rude and caddy. To me and mine they were polite and nice, but some of their comments about other people, tables, and guests were uncalled for. Your in the customer service industry, not the “im better than you and I dont care if you eat” industry. Maybe if you spent more time caring for customers instead of chasing around your rubber bouncy ball you would be better at your job.

Our waitress was good and very attentive, food was excellent and as always we had lots to take home. The feel of the place was drab, the usual clapping and cheering at having eyebrows singed off was not there. It was very quiet, kind of like eating at a funeral home.

Ill revisit later to see if it improves back to the way it was.

If you go ask for Jose. He is hands down the best. Our food was perfection and he put a lot into his show. 100/10 would recommend.

Journey was our SUPER waitress ~ she was so kind & helpful. It was like we were BFFs or something right off the get go!

We had always ate at the hibachi side ~ we decided we liked the sushi side better.

The food, as usual, was delish!! I’ve ALWAYS loved that there’s such big big portions that I can have like 3 meals out of one plate.

1000000/10 would recommend! Ask for Journey ~ she’s a blessing for sure!
