We had wings, brisket, turkey, chicken, some sides. All of it was great. The bark and smoke on the brisket was incredible. Definitely ranks top 3 outside of Texas for me personally.
The staff though? From the moment I walked in until I left, I was welcomed with smiles and sincerity.
Portions were definitely more than plentiful on everything.
I will definitely return when I’m back in the area (hopefully it’s warmer next time)
Made my order online, after which the website gave me an eta of 45 minutes to pick up the meal.
Considering the way this food would have been prepared i figured it could be done faster but due to doubt, i decided to call and get a more accurate eta. The person who picked up the phone first, answered the phone with announcing the establishment and asking for name i wanted to place on my order. I may be nitpicking NOW, after the fact: what an idiotic assumption to think everyone who calls is ordering; price checks, opening/closing time verification, etc, are reasons other than ordering why people call a restaurant but, I digress.
I say to her “ I already have an order, i placed it online” I gave her my name, told her it would be the name on the order, and then I asked: “could I be given an eta on the order so i can know when to leave home?” Her response was an attitude filled with”EXCUSE ME?!”, so i repeated myself. Before i could finish the question the second time i was hung up on.
I called back it seems she answered again but the voice sounded slightly different so I am not sure. The second person asked for assistance and eventually someone told me 20 minutes.
I did speak to a manager on said issue, and the manager was as “respectfully dismissive” as can be; making me feel absolutely no less unwelcomed, unappreciated, or disrespected than i felt before walking in the building.
I held out hope for the food while standing in the old building that seems to really need a refurbishing campaign.
The smells from my bags were promising….. i was terribly misled.
All the flavors I smelled were on the fries….. the fries????
The Pulled Pork and Brisket were both very tender, moist, easy to go down on the palate.
The problem is, they were both as BLAND as can be, there was no seasoning at all.
To be fair we tried the meats without sauce, then with their “simple bbq sauce” and the sauce tasted like watered down BBQ sauce. We eventually used some sauce from our pantry which enhancer the flavors significantly. The fries, which were OVERSEASONED, got a bit of sweetness that overshadowed the seasoning just enough to make them bearable.
The meats became better after adding salt and pepper which tells me they definitely have them on the tables and if they dont, THEY NEED TO!
All in all this was my birthday meal…. I should’ve went to Smokey Bones…. Sadly the Robinson Branch closed and i didn’t feel the drive to Cranberry so here we are..
First time and last time to Bowsers.
Edit: Pics look great? Tell me you don’t know Bbq any better.
Perhaps not hanging up the phone on customers fixes the problem?
Or continue hanging up on customers, you’ll just continue to lose more.
Dropped to a one star
Still won’t be back
