UPDATE: Just got the check, they tip themselves 20% (mediocre service) and there is a credit card surcharge. Also, the owner told us they couldn’t give us the plastic to go containers because they were too expensive and they were only for takeout orders, but we saw another table get them.
Not accommodating! We had a party of 8, but they only had 1 table that fit more than 6 (already occupied) and they would not allow the tables to be pushed together so everyone could sit at the same table. Floors were very dirty.
Service was very slow. Entrées took over an hour to come out. 2 people got their food, then 20 min later the rest came out and the fried chicken, pork chops and okra were luke warm.
Huge portions! Amazing fried green tomatoes!! My sister said the chicken gizzards were good. Stuffed chicken was good, flavor was there. Just disappointing accommodations, service, cleanliness and food temps.

I did a search for highly rated restaurants near me and this popped up. Based on the website and the activities advertised, I wasn’t sure if it was for families or primarily adults. We took a chance and brought the kids.
First impression – nondescript exterior brought to mind “one of those little hidden treasures”, and once you step in the space is larger than expected. Nice variety of seating in a clean and comfortable space.
The place gives off a comfortable, relaxed vibe. A place you would expect to have its regulars.
Reviews had a mix of experience where service wasn’t great, so I was not sure what to expect there, but it was phenomenal! We selected a seat and as soon as we settled we had menus in our hands. Between the website and menus, you get great descriptions and pics, so nothing should be a surprise. If you have questions, the friendly staff was more than happy to help. We got all the attention we needed while also being given space to just relax.
We tried the alligator and oyster appetizers and the servings were plentiful for everyone to enjoy several pieces each. Both appetizers were lightly breaded and not the least bit greasy. Super tasty.
We all selected completely different items – ettoufe, po boy, and seafood platter – and everyone was pleased with their choice. The servings were large enough for second take-home meals!
Of course we had to finish with the beignets, which were absolutely melt in your mouth sweets.
If you want to feel at home in a comfortable environment, sit back and enjoy quality food selections, and leave full – here’s your spot.
I saw complaints about the automatic gratuity, but because the service was so good, I had no problem with it. It was deserved.

Im a Houston native that just moved to the DMV. I came here today 02/24/26 right after taking my bar exam to unwind and relax. I reviewed this restaurant was 3days before coming because I’ve heard great things. And as I’m here they have not disappointed. Im writing this review as I sit in the booth. My server is named Reagan and she is great. She’s attentive and we’re talking as if I already knew her. The vibe here is beautiful. I love the spot saxophone playing in the background, and I heard great things about the owner, hopefully I meet her on my next visit. Now to the food and drinks. I orders the Laila’s 9th ward and the Bistro Rita (lime) both 10/10.. for the appetizer I ordered a bow of gumbo…I was skeptical, but it was great! The only place I trust for gumbo outside of Houston IS Louisiana, includingNew Orleans…and they did not disappoint again! For dinner I’m ordering the catfish etoufee w/ crawfish and beignets for desert… I haven’t gotten the order yet, but from everything I’ve gotten this far, I KNOW it will be great! Thank you! I WILL be back!

We had brunch there, and from the moment we walked in, it was amazing! The vibe, the music, the service! Despite probably being the world’s pickiest eater, I very much enjoyed the food! Started off with the salmon bites, then had the red velvet chicken and waffles, and it was all superb! Not to mention the endless mimosas were the icing on the cake! Will definitely be going back!!

The waitress was very attentive and management was very accommodating. The atmosphere was great, I liked the ambience and it’s at a great location. The food was great and portions were decent. The food came out hot and this was a first as I go out in groups and other places give the food warm so was very happy. Definitely would come again.

Phenomenal from start to finish. From the Arnold Palmer(Sweet Tea & Lemonade) it was perfect. Not too sweet. The fried green tomato appetizer…delish . Catfish meal with mac n cheese, fried okra, & hushpuppies…omg! My daughter had yams. I tried them, they were delicious. Then we finished with the Beignets for dessert. These were ridiculous! They melted in our mouth.

I came in from Virginia Beach, so if you all are coming in, To the Fredericksburg area make sure you stop by New Orleans bistro and order the voodoo shrimp… It’s the BOMB ask for Katie!! ~

My Best Friend and his wife invested me and my wife here. When we first walked in, atmosphere was love. There was a DJ playing music due to an even going in “Black Girl Social”. We were seated and our waitress Jaiden was very professional and gave outstanding service. Food was amazing. We had the seafood platter, red beans and rice, fried pork chops, seafood pasta, and cornbread (Pictured Cornbread only my apologies as I forgot the other meals). Would definitely recommend this establishment.
