Great small diner atmosphere and friendly staff just adds to the eating experience.
The best fried chicken around that perfect crunch, then the soft fall off the bone meat. Just like your grandmothers fried chicken. Excellent.
The Mac and cheese and baked beans completed the meal.
Any time the is chocolate pie on the menu I have to try it and this one did not disappoint. Fresh, moist and decadent.

✨Tasty fried chicken here. Chicken is perfectly crispy and full of flavor. Recommend the Okra and Mac & Cheese. Enjoyed the fried pickles with ranch. Fried Green Tomatoes, not so much… Highly recommend you visit and try for yourself!

While in Birmingham for business, I decided to finally try the much-raved-about Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken—ordered via DoorDash and honestly wasn’t sure how fried chicken would hold up in delivery. But I’m so glad I gave it a shot!
The fries arrived hot, crispy, and full of flavor. The greens had a slight kick and were easily some of the best I’ve ever had—seasoned perfectly. The chicken tender was golden brown and fried to absolute perfection. But the real stars? The wings and breast—pure heaven on earth. Hands down the best fried chicken I’ve ever had on this planet.
Run—don’t walk—to get this chicken. I’m just relieved there’s no location near me or my waistline would be in serious trouble. Highly recommend!

We came on recommendation from a colleague and we loved the chicken so much we had to go back another time before leaving Birmingham! Crunchy, flavorful, it’s perfect.
The sides were also the best we had in town, our fave was the greens.

Great little diner/dive on the south side of B’ham. If you like home cooking that’s a little spicy…yum! Love the coleslaw and white meat chicken. Decent size servings, great collards, baked beans and corn.
They play good music if you like old R&B/blues/jazz. They have 2-3 TV’s with muted sports channels and they seem to draw a decent business crowd from downtown B’ham during the week.

Visited this restaurant at the beckoning of my husband. He’d eaten here on several occasions and enjoyed the chicken and the sides. I ordered wings with mac n cheese and turnips. We also had fried green tomatoes.I was surprised because I wasn’t expecting the chicken to be spicy, but I should’ve known because that’s my husband’s preference. The chicken was cooked perfectly otherwise. I truly enjoyed the tomatoes and turnips most of all. A good time had with the husband. So it was a good experience.

Quick service. Visited this location today. I visited Gus’ years ago I think in Memphis , and before they came to Birmingham. Anyway, if you like spicy, you will love the chicken. I had a two piece mixed with Mac and cheese and baked beans. The chicken has a very thin crust on it which tastes like it’s marinated in hot sauce. I prefer more breading and crust myself. The Mac and cheese was thick but needed salt in my opinion. The beans were tasty. Good visit and wasn’t busy. The cashier acted like she wanted to be at work. Just make sure your stomach can handle spicy!

Our first time here and it is great! I was a little concerned about the spicy part of the chicken, but it was.very good. If you like spicy chicken, then this is the place for you! The young lady who served us was very helpful when I asked about the food. The inside of the restaurant is kind of retro, but it is a very nice place. I will be back! Nuff said….
