I am in town for a few days and wanted to find a nice greasy wheel for dinner. Read some Reddit posts and focused on Backcountry. To me the pics are what really draw me in, not just of the food but of the establishment.
Did it look straight out of 1983? Check!
Was is seedy? Check!
Was is not the cleanest looking? Check!
Did the pizza look good? Check!
So I wandered over from my hotel and immediately poured over the massive beer list. The pizza pics looked great and I settled on the small Supreme for $20. (BTW, I barely got through half of it while having a few beers.)
The crust to me makes this pizza, it was a bit charred, airy and had a hint of sweetness. That combined with the plentiful ingredients was a perfect combo. I don’t want crust that tastes like cardboard but something that you eat and don’t just discard. The rest of the pizza from the crust on looked straight out of the Tony’s or Red Baron frozen factory. Nothing impressive but there were lots of toppings that when combined with the crust just works. I don’t care about flop or what color the bottom of the pizza is, I just want it to taste good and this disc did more than that! Also, the red pepper shaker from Flat Iron Pepper Co. grinds the red pepper flakes and seeds into powder which was incredible. I was able to purchase a grinder too. Such a delicious taste!

The pizza is pretty good but the beer selection is trash. Hoppy, More Hoppy, and Ultra Hoppy are pretty much your only choices. The staff also doesn’t really care about you. But they’ll still suggest a 25% tip.

Great pizza! They were able to accommodate our large party on short notice. We were not disappointed. The gaming room was a great surprise. We were able to hang out and play some games and have some fun after dinner. I definitely recommend eating/playing here!

Terrible service. Nobody greeted us at the entrance, we were seated at a dirty table in the playroom, and the waitress disappeared after giving us menus. We never saw her again, so we ended up leaving without even eating.

Loved this place on my visit to boulder! Good beer selection, really good food, what else can you ask for from a local watering hole? Honestly, great vibe of bartenders, locals and tourists. Pizza is really really good, takes a while, so sit and have a beer (or two) while you wait. Would love to go back someday.

Mitchell was an awesome server, super friendly and attentive. Both the garden pizza and Buffalo chicken pizza was great. The beer selection is huge too. I personally like sour beers and they had plenty of options. We’ll definitely be back

This place is fairy expensive. I think their pizzas can get up to $42 after tax. Which is kind of insane if you are a reasonable person like me. Their pizza is pretty good, maybe best in the county but that’s not saying too much because colorado pizza is awful generally speaking. The chicken wings are great here just make sure you get the fried and not smoked. T the smoked is under cooked and so there is lots of cartilage and connective tissue. That’s one thing I don’t understand why people don’t get wings have a lot of connective tissue and you gotta render that down to be tasty. I don’t want to eat rubber bands for din din. But the fried wings are properly done and good, highly recommend. Beer selection usually suits my needs too.

Disgusted!! Went here after the CU football game yesterday. You would think that they would be overstaffed to handle a huge crowd after the game. The complete opposite! I was there with another person. No staff member showed up at our table for 15 minutes so I had to go tell someone. When she finally came over we ordered. I knew there would be a wait for the food, but that was ok. She brought our drinks and when she brought our appetizer of wings (messy, right), no plates, no napkins, no silverware. I had to get up to tell someone that. The wings were good. Finally got our pizza, which was okay. Again, didn’t bring any plates so I had to get up again to tell someone that. Our second appetizer they were out of. The table next to us with a family of four was there before us and NEVER received their food and then was double charged for food they never received. They left. Horrible experience, will never go back!
