Good service and sushi. Dry ice add to the atmosphere and a nice touch. Currently does not have a liquor license and the bar is closed. Hopefully granted soon. Good value and fried ice cream was yummy .

Went her for New Years Eve with friends…8 of us total. After being seated we did have a wait. But being the holiday it was understandable. The drinks were good. I had the warm saki. I think it was called blossom. It was very good. Two in our party had the sushi for their meal. The rest of us had the hibachi dinner. Three had steak and chicken with fried rice and 3 had steak and shrimp. Along with your meal you get an option of mushrooms or shrimp. Two of us had the mushrooms. I am allergic to shrimp. The food was excellent and a lot of it. The only disappointment was after the cook served the chicken I asked when do we get the mushrooms. He seemed very annoyed as he had shrimp written for everyone. He annoyance made me feel very uncomfortable. This is why I gave 4 stars. But other than that we all had a very nice evening and had enough leftover for a second dinner. Oh and they had live music. It was two women and they were very good. Oh one more thing. They had a robot where you could get your picture taken. And the had glow sticks and party items.

We chose the Strongsville location for New Year’s Eve, but the evening was poorly managed from start to finish.

Despite having an 8 PM reservation, we weren’t seated until 8:30 PM. The lobby was overcrowded, and the party we were eventually seated with had already been waiting over an hour.

The organization didn’t improve once we were at the table. It took 20 minutes just to have our food orders taken after our drinks arrived. The delays were so significant that the other half of our hibachi table walked out before the chef even started. This left just two of us at a large grill, which completely deflated the experience. When our chef finally arrived—a full hour after we were seated—he admitted the restaurant was severely overbooked.

The most frustrating part was being told we were on a “timer.” After our food order was taken, we were informed we would have only 20 minutes to eat and vacate the table once the chef finished. Being rushed through a meal because the restaurant is running behind is unacceptable.

It is a shame because the food was actually good, but the environment was too chaotic to enjoy it. New Year’s Eve is a night when guests rely on their reservations. Shinto’s decision to overbook resulted in a rushed, stressful experience that wasn’t worth the cost. I reached out to management privately and never received a response.

I recently visited Shinto Hibachi in Westlake with my son to celebrate his accomplishments, and unfortunately our experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish.
We were seated between two large parties, off to the side, with the chef’s back turned toward us the entire time. A cart was also pushed in front of us, completely blocking our view. We came for the hibachi experience, but we couldn’t see or enjoy any part of it.
Even the chef expressed confusion, saying he didn’t understand why we had been seated there. By the time the rest of our food made it to our plates, the rice and mushrooms were already cold. I ordered chicken and shrimp but received only six shrimp, after the chef served the rest of the party at the table. It truly felt like we were being overlooked.
Service from our waiter was equally frustrating. I asked for more dressing and never received it—yet he continued to check on and cater to the other party beside us. I had to ask the manager, who kindly brought it. I also requested plastic silverware from the waiter, which he acknowledged but never brought. Again, I had to ask the manager to get it for us.
At the end of our meal, I asked the waiter for the check and boxes. He brought the check but didn’t bring any boxes. A young employee bussing a nearby table was the one who finally helped us.
Overall, this visit was extremely disappointing. What was meant to be a special celebration for my son turned into an uncomfortable and frustrating experience. I hope management takes steps to improve seating decisions, service attention, and overall guest experience.

This used to be a wonderful restaurant for sushi, one of our favorites, but it’s gone way downhill in the past couple years. The food is still decent, although like a lot of places the portion sizes have shrunk while the prices have skyrocketed. They also seem to have a gnat problem (time for a health dept inspection?).

The biggest problem is the staff and the manager. On one occasion our pickup order of sushi sat for nearly two hours due to the kitchen not knowing they had two non-sushi orders to prepare with it. The staff were absolutely clueless telling us they were preparing it when they weren’t, and the manager (owner?) acted like it wasn’t a big deal that the food has been sitting out for so long.

On our last visit we watched as the staff sat at the end of the bar laughing and carrying on as if they didn’t have jobs to do. Our waitress never asked for a drink order, instead came back to take our food order without ever asking about drinks. Then, I had to go to the bar where the staff had gathered just to inquire when my drink would be arriving (she forgot). Our waitress proceeded to slam the drink down next to me without so much as an apology. She just wasn’t very friendly, didn’t seem like she had any training at all, and didn’t make it a pleasant experience. The sushi chefs never once asked us how anything was or even acknowledged us as we were leaving the sushi bar. In the past they made an effort. And once again, that same manager was walking around without a care in the world. Place could’ve been burning down and he wouldn’t notice.

My wife said the bathroom was… kinda gross. One sink wasn’t draining, a bottle of cleaner was left sitting out, the automatic soap dispensers weren’t working and instead they had a pump container on the counter.

Not the professional restaurant atmosphere we used to love about this place. It’s become an overrated, shell of its former self with careless staff. So disappointed as we really tried to give it additional chances. It’s time to look elsewhere.

Had an awesome time with my friends. We had dinner there in more formal dresses and we didn’t feel out of place even though the atmosphere felt casual enough for any kind of customer. I ordered the snow mountain roll and another spicy roll which I was at first worried it wouldn’t be enough but that worry was soon quelled because of how huge the sushi was. It tasted AMAZING and were so filling. The restaurant looks amazing and the service was great. The hibachi chef was great and fun. Overall had a great time here and would highly recommend for people looking for a place with good sushi and/or hibachi!

We usually go to the westlake location, but since they had no reservations available this night, we decided to try strongsville instead. I think that’ll be the last time we do that. Our reservations were at 7:30, but we didn’t get seated til 8:10pm. It was another 10-15 minutes until anyone came over with water. My husband ordered a beer, and it was brought in a can. He asked for a glass, but never got one. I got a mojito which was good, but I wanted to order another one and never got the chance. My main dish was brought to be a solid 10 minutes before the rest of my party got theirs, which was really akward. The food was good and correct which was a relief. The place is very poorly managed and disorganized. The thing that was the worst is that We didn’t even get an apology from the hostesses or any communication. No manager ever came over to apologize for our reservation being missed and having to wait 40 minutes for a table despite having reservations. I had to go up to the desk twice to make sure they hadn’t forgotten about us. We have never had an experience like this at the westlake location, so I don’t think we will ever go back to strongsville. Their manager needs to go over to westlake and take some notes.

Very good and very friendly staff. Chef was fun and funny and read our energy level perfectly. You get ALOT of food for your money. They also have Japanese imported beer.

Shinto is fun, especially the bar area. The sushi is good, not what it used to be, but still good! Our favorite role is the Jimmy, but it was half the volume that it used to be. Cocktails are pretty good. One bartender is so full of himself that he’s ridiculous and fodder for a lot of laughs. The place was very crowded when we were there, but we were able to get a table near the bar by being patient. We’ve been there before for hibachi, and it was pretty good. I guess I’m a hard critic, but Shinto just isn’t what it used to be.

We had the hibachi here and I took my children. One of them ate very well, the other 3, not so much. They are picky and there wasn’t a lot of options for vegetarian children. They got rice and noodles and that was all. I enjoy hibachi but it’s hard with picky eaters. The atmosphere is very kid friendly and my kids loved the show but it was hard because we walked away paying a lot and them having to eat cereal at home.
We also went at about 5 pm and we were a party of sic and got right in, thank goodness.
